bsquared11 , I do get your point. My guess is, there will always be local fans in any city who will take offense of someone else rooting for the other team, or being loyal to another team. Philly does seem to have a lot of those types of folks, but there's probably many in every major city that has major league teams be it baseball, football, basketball, hockey. Somehow, I can't imagine going to any large city's home team stadium wearing another teams jersey cheering for that team to beat the home team, be it Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Atlanta, NYC, or Philly; especially after some of the hometown fans get a bit liquored up at the game.

"The Yankee hat is a nice first impression for Philly..."

Why the need to be so provincial-sounding? There are plenty of Yankee fans in Philly. I'm not one of them, but I know MANY folks who are. It's a big, beautiful country out there, Philly is just part of it.

I'm not even originally from Philly, nor am I a Phillies fan. I'm actually from NY and I'm a Mets fan, though I live in Philly now. But:

It's a local show, no?

The Phillies lost to the Yankees in the Series last year, no?

You must just be a bitter Mets fan, first off it's a Yankee hat not a Nationals hat. You undoubtedly hate the Yankees as Met fan, but like it or not they are the most popular sports franchise in the world. Not to mention the Yankee hat has been commodified by nearly the entire hip-hop community in the last 15 years from Jay-Z ("made the Yankee hat more famous than a Yankee can") on down. It's a style more than anything. No issue here.

Guilty as charged. But as a Met fan, I'm much more bitter about the Phillies than I am about the Yankees.
