October PPM's

Seriously, the 610 signal should revert to a standards/oldies/pop aka WBNJ type format, could they do any worst with that monster signal then they are doing now. I bet a 3.0 would be the order of the day with plenty of suburban listeners. But I guess the suits want BIN on a full signal in this market no matter what the cost and I would bet WURD has three times the audience. This market is one of the only ones where there is no English music station on AM, being it rimshot or in market..
This is patently absurd.

This may be a surprise, but sometimes people can spot patterns. Patterns of speech, of topics, of showing up right after a previous persona was escorted off the premises.

I don't know why Beasley just doesn't make 610 ESPN radio and use it for overflow sports except the Flyers which go over to WMMR when their agreement with iHeart is over. BIN could just go to an FM sub-channel or people could listen on their app. Or if they want to keep it on AM, put it on WDAS-AM.

They sort of did that for a while, didn’t they? I mean, it was branded ESPN 610 or similar. It doesn’t seem like it’s a priority to have an overflow on AM if it doesn’t harm WMMR to have the occasional hockey game in the evening.

Sure, if iHeart chooses to bail after the term ends, an ESPN dumping ground makes as much sense as anything at the moment.

That all being said, I don’t really get the attachment to a frequency and a band. WIP as a sports station bears little more than a call sign connection to the WIP of old regardless of where it resides. And the current incarnation is the same as it had been on 610, it just changed its address, so to speak.

610 was ESPN for a while (and previously just "610 Sports". The website is still even live: 610 ESPN - The Delaware Valley's 610AM WTEL

It was brokered, and anyone who wrote a regular check could have a weekly "show" on 610.

IF they were to end the agreement with iHeart, I suppose if iHeart wanted to keep BIN going, they could use the 102.5 translator in Philly and the 104.1 translator in Trenton that "The Gambler" currently uses and feed them from WDAS-HD2, but for now, iHeart seems invested in BIN to keep it going.

Whether BIN ultimately does or doesn’t meet iHeart’s objectives, it’s an interesting effort and deserves serious credit for making the effort to serve an audience with relevant content.
Exactly. If they build it into a kind of NPR model (National hub with local spokes to gather local stories), it can be run well.

I still don't understand what iHeart is doing with The Gambler (WDAS-AM) though. They haven't appeared in the ratings once (non-subscribing, or just no one listening?). Plus with a live and local PM show too. I'm all for trying new things to see if they stick, but with WIP and WPEN, there really isn't much audience for a tiny AM/FM Translator combo is there?

That one totally baffles me. At least the local show, yes. I can’t see how there’s any revenue (of any significance) for whatever microscopic slice of the pie is left.

Dump full time satellite fed shows on there? Ok, sure, whatever. And I get one show isn’t a bank breaker, but I’d love to understand the perceived value. I mean that with all genuine curiosity.

Now the Draft Kings deal is intriguing, but even still, it seems hard to see a reason to sink the money into it.

Where the number of people at the bar far exceed the average number of listeners? 😆
You're probably right. I brought a clock radio with me during my recent trip to King of Prussia and I couldn't pick up The Gambler on AM or FM. I was able to get most of the Philly AMers including WHAT 1340, which is only 1KW, but didn't pick up anything on 1480-AM. And Wikipedia says The Gambler is on 102.5 FM in Philly? Well in King of Prussia the only thing I got on 102.5 was Y-102 from Reading.

Just like all the new move in annoying Philly translators, 94.9, 95.1, 96.1, 99.9, 100.7, 102.5, 104.1 and a few others, that beam their strict pattern Southeast into New Jersey blocking all the heritage once listenable Lehigh Valley signals.

I doubt iHeart cares what BIN's ratings are in Philadelphia. They need an affiliate in market #9 to show prospective network sponsors. Creating BIN was a response to the mood of the country in 2020. I'm not sure whether their main objective is turning a profit or being perceived in a good light.

It does, however, seem a waste of that great 610 signal.

But honestly, what else could go on that signal?

Sports is WELL covered.

So is conservative talk.

Spanish, religious, all covered in various ways (of course, there can be different flavors of each that maybe could use the signal)

BIN is something different. SOME people are tuning in for it. I doubt anything else would pull in much in the way of listenership on that signal.
