Perhaps Providence listeners really like heritage jocks. That is my only explanation. Of all the other FM stations in the market, only 92 PRO-FM, with only one heritage jock (Giovanni), has anything close to 'HJY's stable. And WHJY doesn't even have the same talent that it did in the past; Geoff Charles and the better-known weekenders are gone. But the station's lineup - from Paul and Al through Johnny Skidmarks at night - have all generally been with the station at least 20 years.
Musically, the playlist is too tight and repetitive, but I guess that's what the audience really wants.
