FRESH did make an impact on SUNNY in October (but interestingly did not hurt MIX at all). Was this due to curiosity cume and a heavy TV schedule or do you think that KFRH will become a long term player? I still predict that KSNE will be #1 for the Fall book because of December which is always massive for them.

HOT 97.5 was one of the big stories of the trend. Top 5 25-54 for the trend, top 3 25-54 for the month. Ironically that isn't even their demo, yet they beat most of the stations that are targeting 25-54. I have noticed that rhythmic has started doing well in adults in some other markets as well, the younger half of the demo grew up with hip hop and many obviously want to still listen to it. Of course HOT does even better in youger demos, they were #1 18-34 in double digits for the month of October.

Not a good month for Country. COYOTE will be dropping off a decent August next trend so they could take a bad hit and fall out of the top 15. Maybe adding more live shifts is going to help them? KWNR will drop off a good September before the book is released. Historically, December is the worst month for Country in Las Vegas. I believe it's because Christmas music on SUNNY does steal away some of the country audience.

What's going on with the OASIS? I thought that their terrible September was going to be a fluke, but October was almost as bad. This especially surprises me because they have been running TV ads. Are they doing anything differently? I haven't noticed.

One Man's Opinion....

They have never been able to shake the label of "yuppie MUZAK". Hence, Clear Channel decided that audience is no longer profitable (same which befell B/EZ stations in the early 80's, listeners became set in their ways in regards to products - of course, in 2007, revenue, not ratings, determines the success of a station) and blew up their NAC stations (except LV where they tanked an oldies station, but basically the same segment of listenership) for the latest "flavor of the month". Altho the ratings say otherwise, as long as the station is billing expect to hear the sounds of Kenny G, Sade, etc eminating from 105.7fm. For the record, I am aware that CC does not run Oasis, I brought them into this as an example and to support my opinion.

If KOAS continues to have ratings like this it will eventually impact their revenue in a very negative way. But my guess is they were just dealt two lousy hands in a row and they will rebound.

So don't anyone tell me that such and such a talk station is number ONE.
