I guess he got tired of being the greeter at Wal Mart ;)

...this is the worst press release EVER! This is what happens when you fire your talented employees.

I'm not a big fan of the "wal-mart greeter" tag, but it's pretty appropriate for OLD.

Could just be a temporary gig until they "can" someone on a sister station's timeslot or a format change. Like Sam Malone's stint at KTRH or KPRC I forget which one he was on.

I saw this in the Houston Free Press last week. Glad to see he's swinging some kind of deal.

Glad to hear that Dave is making it back on air.

I do like hearing all the comments from some of the folks here that don't have the talent to clean a radio studio bad mouth a guy who's made radio his livelihood for years.

I used to LIVE for Friday afternoons! While driving home in traffic I'd tune in to hear what Outlaw Dave was going to do for the weekend. I felt connected and for a small moment...perhaps, cool. Who cares if there's no music? Not like there is anything good to listen to now. Maybe we can have one small hour to hear some well thought out interviews...an hour of someone else's perspective...an hour of something we used to really like? We may hear about something cool to do or an organization to get involved with. Beats hearing a DJ announce that he will be under the purple gorrilla at a local car dealer. I'm going to listen.

OD infomercial (brokered time)

the only reason OD got time was because he bought it... as soon as his check bounces the show will be gone.

its not even live, they have to find time during the week to record him.

probably $$ from a comedy club. take-a-number comic interviews - wore out radio.

We've all made radio our livelihood for years.

Oh, there's no question that a tremendous amount of OD-bashing stems from jealousy. He was a bona-fide afternoon drive star for years, is still very active with his charity work, and his name recognition among Houston listeners---even those who never listened to his format---is something that few in this market will accomplish, even if they live to be 100. I don't care if it's brokered, I wish him the best. He's the difference between a true personality and a mere jock.

its the stab wounds that motivate some. they're tough to patch up when they're in yer back.

Right, but it's funny how some use personal grudges and vendettas to justify criticisms of performance. Bitterness aside, the listeners are intensely loyal to the OD brand. How many people who have been out of radio for a couple of years can still book gigs on their name power?

Missed it (I was listening to Joe's Roadhouse/KPFT). Good stuff for ya, there. A friend used my photography work on her CD, so I had to slog through the weather to show my face at her release party---radio off, driving through the downpour. I figured they'd put the podcast on the website, but so far, I haven't seen it. Let me know if it turns up anywhere.
