Odd happenings at KOMO-TV

Has anyone noticed the radio folks showing up on KOMO-TV?
Pat Cashman (radio guy) did a tremendous job with weather as the fill-in.
Last night Kent Phillips (radio guy) was sent to cover the big plane
crash and was the first reporter there. KOMO-TV killed KING and KIRO
with their coverage. Maybe TV has discovered that the real talent
may be in radio! My guess is Cashman, who was never given a real chance
in radio will wind up a TV Star. Phillips, who seems to spend more
time in TV these days than minding the store in radio, may be groomed
for TV News too. How many other TV stars in town came from radio? Raible
was from sports. How many do both radio and TV? I hear the weather guys
all over radio in town. Wasn't Dave Ross or John Carlson on TV at one time?

Cashman

He already IS professor...

No, Pat's gotta busy slate now with various commercials and KING-TV -
..doing "Evening Mags" and other specials...

I don't think that's why Kent was there, Bill. Most likely he was in the area and called in when it happened.

It sounded like Kent was using a cell phone, and I didn't see him doing any official coverage, just filling in the details before any one else could. Did anybody watch KING long enough to find out why they didn't have any coverage from the air? I wasn't particularly interested in watching a tree from a DOT cam, although sometimes they would throw in a map for variety.

I tuned into KOMO radio to get traffic info at the time during which Kent was giving details to KOMO radio, and he said he was across the street getting a haircut when it happened...so he went out to be a reporter since he was in the right place at the right time...
