Odds for Imus in DC?

Any guess about whether Imus will be broadcast in DC soon? I am sorry to say this, because I listen to them mornings, but I believe WMAL will be forced to pick Imus up at the expense of Grandy and Andy. This is because WMAL is a Citadel-owned station, Imus wants the prestige of being in the DC market, and this is a major market for national advertisers. I wish Imus would return, but on 570 WTNT, where he was before and the Wall Street report Journal currently snoozes listeners off the road. I don't think they will drop the WSJ, though, citing the "right" type of listener. I can't imagine 570 is doing big numbers with that stuff. Your opinions? :-\

I would strongly suspect he'll end up on WMAL. Citadel needs to have the I-man on in DC, and 'MAL is an obvious choice.

570/WTNT doesn't do "big numbers" with anything, nor did they with Imus. They lost their chance at having 15 minutes of fame when RKO elected not to put a KHJ/CKLW/WHBQ-type Top 40 format on then-570/WGMS(AM) 30 years ago.

Citadel will clear the deck for Don at WMAL and his numbers will far surpass anything he did before in DC on 570. In fact, his numbers will rise to about the same level Grandy & Andy have achieved. WMAL's listeners aren't going anywhere, no matter who you slap on it.

But at least this time Imus fans will be able to hear him without having to drive to Shady Grove and sit in their cars.

Remember that Ingraham often beats Chris Core. But thats cause TNT is her flagship.

RRR (Radical Rightwing Radio) is a lot like Gospel. It doesn't take much of an audience (cume) to pile up enough AQH to score occasionally ("often") because the loony listeners stay glued to their Radio Sets for fear that they'll miss one glistening gem that might fall out of Laura's luscious lips. Ingraham ain't quite Coulter, but she's close enough to grab a stray share, from time to time.

It sounds as if you are against RRR (radical rightwing radio). If what you say is true, why can't the left wing crowd do the same? Shouldn't Stephanie MIller and Ed Schultz be piling up huge ratings even without a high watt station if what they say is the pulse of the nation? If the message were good enough, peoiple would strain to hear them, correct? Certainly, if the listeners were there those greedy capitalists would put them on the air more - isn't all they care about just making money and not which end of the spectrum the programming is coming from?. Certainly if left-wing radio is so popular, more people equals more money, correct?

Ingraham has never beaten Chris Core. Not even close.

Imus won't be on WMAL. If anything, look for Citadel to syndicate current WMAL talkers.

Imus is an audience magnet. WMAL needs something to attract a morning audience--they haven't had one since... well, since... uh...

When did Harden & Weaver sign off?

Hard to imagine that the Citadel market manager for DC doesn't understand the opportunity.

Why does that matter? Does anyone in DC know or care? They're too busy trying to hear the station five miles from the transmitter.

I would think it is much easier to hear Imus on WABC out of New York that WTNT.

The signal is poor from WABC. Lots of static and not always audible. I think WABC did something technically to their signal a little over a year ago. After those technical changes, their signal became less strong in Connecticut and New Jersey. Their signal used to beam crystal clear into Hartdord, but not now. Same low quality distant sound.

Oh sure. Citadel will syndicate the WMAL morning show, the Chris Core show and then all the other shows on all their other news/talk stations.

It defies logic they would put Imus on WABC and then not on all their other news/talk stations. Think of the money that would save?

I just wonder what they are waiting for.

The retooled Imus show is terrible! Rodeo reports. Discussions about autism. Unfunny new sidekicks. Imus being too careful to avoid offending anybody. Putting it on "all their other news/talk stations" would be a HUGE mistake.

Check out http://tinyurl.com/22te4g to get a taste of the reactions to the new Imus.

Imus back on in D.C.

Per DCRTV, he'll be on True Oldies 105.9 beginning Thursday (3/6).
