I've noticed that they are playing more pop 80's music than they used to...is that why Bob is out?

I've noticed a sweeper on the Brew that goes something like, "Real. Fun. Rock."  I haven't noticed it before, but then I haven't listened to the station much this year.

Does anyone know if this is new, or has it been around awhile?  I hope it's been around awhile;  if it's new, that suggests they probably plan to continue imaging around Rock, quashing hopes that a broader and longer-list 80's-centric format is in the wings.  :(  Of course, you can never tell for sure...

It's been on their Truck/SUV for about a month at least. Don't know if its new as, after I've listened to them for a day, I feel I've heard their entire playlist. Not expecting a new song (after all the 80s are behind us) but they seem to lack variety. Maybe they should add "Variety." to the "Real. Fun. Rock." ;)

Actually, that observation leads to where I first looked for a glimmer of hope (aka significant evolution/re-positioning).  I believe they had been using the positioner "Real Rock Variety,"  but that's pretty much disappeared.  I hoped this indicated they might be planning a segue to the "Real *Music* Variety" positioner used by many successful, broader but 80's-focused, long-list CC Adult Hits stations.  That would be a natural evolution, at a particularly logical time:  ratings down (OK, it's just one trend, but could indicate something real given the magnitude of the drop), and HKC secular music gone (may have been having a phantom-type impact).  Besides, "Brew" would be an appropriate moniker for a station that really mixes it up musically.  They could still keep plenty of the existing cume, especially since they already venture a bit toward the poppier fringes of Rock once in awhile.

Still probably wishful thinking...

The Brew could become a Jack-type of Rock station...Mix in a few currents but keep the playlist 90% recurrent. At least that would mix things up a little bit...and give Columbus a "Brew" of Rock. ;D
