ODS Rules!!!!

WODS is now the coolest radio station in Boston. Hands Down! They played Timothy by The Bouys this afternoon (written by Rupert "Pina Collota" Holmes, by the way). Who else in this market (or any other) is cool enough to play a pop ode to eating your little buddy? :p BCN? AAF? ZLX? ROR? I don't think so. WODS RULES!!!! Right up untill they start with the X-mas music. :D

103 top one-hit wonders countdown weekend including some music they play all the time & some you probably won't hear until the next 103 top one-hit wonders countdown weekend. It's count-ober at WODS so there's some sort of countdown on every weekend this month.

Monday its back to the same 300 (or is it 200) or so oldies.

Decent music,but VERY LITTLE variety.

And of course the Christmas flip is just around the corner.

Actually, it's more like 450 plus, with various titles rotating in and out on a regular basis!
But for those fans of the late 'Wolfman Jack" they are running one of his old Halloween specials on Tuesday night. Should be a real treat for the younger members of this board, that never had the pleasure of hearing the Wolfman back in the day. God what a fun time in the business, he was indeed one of the best!

and maybe at some point, Bob Spicer, production genius at Greater Media's Boston stations, could stop by and share some Wolfman stories - Bob was the producer for WJ's overnight gig on WNBC back in the 80's.

following which they could do the Christmas flip (and there it seems to be only 103 tracks or so)

Greater Media in Boston aired the Wolfman's syndicated oldies show overnights on tape for a while when they had oldies 1150 AM WMEX circa 1985-1986.

Problem is, we'd love to listen to WATD (we being the fans of such music), but the signal isn't as big as ODS.

I must say that they are doing a good job with the music.

ROR is playing "It's A Heartache" by Bonnie Tyler. Wise move as it is probably Rod Stewart's next single from his #1 album.

As one critic said to me on the phone "Rod Stewart doing Bonnie Tyler doing Rod Stewart".

Kind of like "Transformer" being Lou Reed playing David Bowie playing Lou Reed. The oldest trick in the book in rock & roll.

I've heard the Buoys "Timothy" quite a few time on WATD in the past. Does that mean WATD rules too??

WATD definitely rules (much more than WODS) on my receiver! I have my antenna positioned specifically for the best WATD reception I can get here in Somerville, since they're the most difficult station to receive here that I want to listen to.

If I open the window next to my stereo, I have to re-orient my antenna a diffferent way to get WATD than when it's closed. I guess it reflects differently off the window frame when it's open. It also changes depending on how far I open it. Very annoying.
