All Access is reporting that Oedipus will be the PD of FNX.

Let's hope not; he couldn't identify MGMT's "Time to Pretend" when they played it on 'FNX this morning during his interview.

I think Oedipus to FNX would be GREAT.
First, let's remember that the PD doesn't pick the music these days that's left to an APD/Music Director and most stations also have a music panel made up of jocks and other staffers.
The PD provides the vision, the direction the station will go and with the marketing manager and GM how the station will be positioned.
Oedipus would provide the same great leadership he gave to BCN all those years and let's not forget how he founded the "Late Risers Club" on the MIT station back in college so he knows about how to appeal to a younger audience, he remembers what made that show the success it was and what made BCN the powerhouse it was for years.
Let's not forget that it was Dave W. who ran BCN into the ground and brought in some lackluster talent from his days in Vegas.
I worked at FNX when Bruce Mittman was running things and the station was HUGE I think Oedipus can bring that back to FNX, not overnight mind you but a nice steady growth, make changes in programming, give the music more of an edge while also holding on to the older listeners in the midday with more classic alternative tracks that most of those listeners most likely first heard on FNX.
It can be done, it just needs to be done intelligently, shrewdly and the mindset that slow and steady will win the race with a slight burst every so often to bring some pub to the station

i agree..regarding not being able to ID an artist.. this goes both ways...we all have friends that have an encycolpeidic (sp) memory when it comes to songs/artists etc but they don't have any "voice".

I recall YEARS ago Charles L and Tank having a "discussion" one morning and it was something like:

Tank - Well some player in the lineup had 2 home runs.
Charles - Some player? Why don't you know his name?
Tank - Well I can't think if it and I don't want to say the wrong guy.
Charles - You are the sports guy Tank you need to know this!
Tank - Quick..tell me any member of Nirvana
****crickets****
....you are the DJ you should know this is what Tank said.

Oedipus was not an MIT college student when he was at WTBS/WMBR. He was an outside community volunteer.

Oedipus is happily married to a woman who happens to be of Thai descent and lives in Thailand 'cuase of his Buddhist leanings...
and...it was Tom Lane who founded the LRC way back when, not Oedipus...

Look at what I said, I didn't say he was an MIT student.
What cannot be disputed is that he was one of the original founders of the show.

He was, along with Tom Lane and others, but he had his own show, "The DemiMonde", before that. When you said "back in college", I thought you meant that he was in college there.
