Officer Jim

Officer Jim, the long time sidekick of Jim Turner, was let go today by WDBO. I am shocked and saddened by this news. I enjoyed his reports because he was like an old friend telling me where the bad traffic was located. Listening to WDBO in the morning will not be the same without Officer Jim telling me what alternate routes to take, and that 5:45 break when he and Jim T. talk with Scott Anez will be missed as well. = (

If this is true, it certainly amounts to one of Orlando Radio's Most STUPID Moves!

He was the ONLY credible traffic voice in the market. That so-called traffic service which supplied other stations sounded like a bunch of kids at amateur night.

Of course, they are going to say it was an "economic" move, which means ad revenues are down. Ever wonder why?

Is it possible the public is getting damned sick and tired of all this conservative vs. liberal CRAP over and over and over and over like the playing of a broken record?

Then again, why is it, a station like WVLG in the Villages can sound so-o-o much better than ANY Orlando, "big market" station?

Like I've said before...they have standards.

WVLG is also live and local, unlike WDBO which is only local for what, four hours a day? WVLG also knows how to serve their community.

Well it's true. Scott Maxwell is reporting it in his column this morning. The comment from GM Susan Larkin was “We wish him well and appreciate everything he’s done for 16 years.” What the hell kind of thing is that to say? Officer Jim was an integral part of the morning show. Ron Bison (former K92 morning man) was sitting in this morning for Officer Jim. Turner is on vacation this week. How is changing part of a long term team going to make for a better broadcast?
Yes, some Orlando station should take note of the success of WVLG. They are live and local.

I've respected Jim's work ever since the "Crimeline" days. I always thought he was a great fit for the morning show.

What a shame.

Susan Larkin DOESN'T HAVE THE GUTS to explain what her remarks mean. She doesn't have the DECENCY to address this matter directly. Instead, she'll hide behind saying nothing or "its a private personel matter".

OK Susan, prove me wrong. Come on, lets hear from you!

I noticed that WDBO had a pretty good dip in the fall book. Does anyone know if morning ratings have been affected since the suits let Officer Jim take early retirement? They replaced him with a
corpse who isn't worth the minimum wage in El Salvador.

The Fall book does not come out til Jan. 2010...that last trend was from Nov, Jim was still on the station for 1/2 that period...
