Official: Return of 107.3 the wave

John Baylor said:
Nick Anthony is in today's RAMP talking about the return on 107.3 the Wave.

No smokescreen. Should be interesting. Wonder how many live personalities will be on air and what they will do for a morning show?

What's RAMP? Can you post?

Its a trade publication delivered by e-mail.

here's the copy John Baylor references

• Smooth AC fights for its right... in Cleeeeeeeevelaaaand! Rubber City Radio Group is in the process of buying Triple A WNWV (V107.3)/Cleveland from Elyria-Lorain, and RAMP has learned that once the station officially changes hands, Rubber City will flip it to Smooth AC under its former identity of "107.3 The Wave," the name it was known as during most of its 22 years as a Smooth Jazz outlet before going Triple A in 2009. "It will feature Pop and Urban AC vocals along with Smooth Jazz vocals and instrumentals," SVP Nick Anthony tells RAMP.[EDIT]

Rather have some real Smooth/Contemporary Jazz than Smooth AC. Blah! ::)

If the "new" Wave actually RETURNS the old logo and jingle set intact, whilst going in a clearly non-NAC/SJ direction... they're going to have real problems ahead identifying with any audience.

Oof.

Please bring back the "old"107.3,the one that played new rock music! Why take a station that was voted No. ! by Scene listeners and turn it into a jazz station? How big will those ratings be??

V107.3 had many followers with their rock format, but the station never really caught on during its two years. If its not doing well, and doesn't seem to be very advertising supportive, then it will change in another direction.

I've actually been listening to The Wave, and they sound pretty good. I think the new format is here to stay.

WJCU is still doing AAA between 6:30am and 6pm every weekday (If I'm wrong with the times, please correct me.) and they do a great job with the music. Kudos to John Carroll for keeping that type of rock alive. :)

Unfortunatly, I 'm not in range of the college stations all day. I'm just tired of the same old classic rock garbage all day long. I'm not a jazz fan,so the Wave doesn't work for me. I really enjoyed the old format.

Being rated #1 in scene meant something twenty years ago. I'd venture a guess they were the only station trading airtime for ad space at the time and just happened to win the readers poll.

Fox 8 hot list? You BUY your way on it.

Still looking for a good rock station though. That's all I'm saying here.

Unfortunately, the best rock station would have to be from college radio here, another market or an internet station.

New York and Chicago I wouldn't bother. Both have no Alternative stations since last year. Locally, WMMS, WONE, and the college rock stations are close to playing new music. They're scattered around on different stations. There's some new stuff from Foster the People, Coldplay and The Fray being played on Q104.

There's also 91.3 The Summit from Akron. Really good AAA music. Not to mention 88.9 in the Akron area. I believe they're still doing Alternative.

Of course, you would also have to get an HD radio to get 92.3 HD-2 (that's where Radio 92.3 ended up), 100.7 HD-2 (I'm guessing that's where The Alternative Project ended up) and 104.1 HD-2 (The Coffee Shop, which is a different version of AAA).
