Official Word From Russ!

Russ posted this on www.russmartin.com

Hey.
Whadaya doin'?

CBS and KLLI have decided to make a run at it on their own, sans "The Russ Martin Show". I admire their ambition and enthusiasm. I applaud their efforts and pray for the fruition of their goals.

J.D., Dan, Clo, Trey and I will proceed on our separate passages and crusades, never maintaining contact with one another, and will live in abject obscurity for the balance of our lives.

Or...we'll be back on the air soon.

Dan O'Malley has posted an excellent synopsis of what's transpired on his MYSPACE page. You can read it here http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=38444529. You may also stay in contact via russmartin.com or http://www.myspace.com/russ_martin

Over the decade, listeners have often referred to The RMS as their friends...their family. I have always been much obliged for that.

For the supporters of the show, I hope there is no anguish, no sorrow. For don't think of us as having left you. Just think of us as having fallen out of the treehouse and died.

I'm at peace now with my Creator. I find great comfort in reciting Biblical prose. In fact, there's a passage I got memorized, sort of fits this occasion:
Ezekiel 25:17...

*yawn* Contract. 2011. Define "soon." O'Malley? Please, he's a board op who Russ used to help him life weights. He's Dan Lewis part deux. The next time he does something funny or original will be the first time.

To save everyone from looking up the Bible passage -

"And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them."

I would love to comment here but that would get my post "taken outside".

Okay, he jokingly compares himself to God. :-\

Jokingly? ???

That little Bible passage says a lot. Like it was a personal thing that requires vengeance. Sheesh, people, it's a friggin' radio show. It airs, it gets canceled, you go on to the next thing. That'd be like the cast of ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" making threats of mass destruction against the network for canceling it, saying 'it wasn't ratings, it was personal.' Paleeeeeze.

It ain't personal. It's business. It happens every single day.

Try 2 Samuel 25 instead: "How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O (Russell), thou wast slain in thine high places."

Looks like someone has seen Pulp Fiction one time too many. ;D

Who hasn't seen Pulp Fiction too many times. I had to watch 10 times just to get the whole thing. The reference is a joke everyone. For those of you that think he has a "God" complex. Jeez Lighten up people.

Russ' cancellation reminds me of that Mark Wahlberg movie...Rockstar.

"Oh boy look at me! I want attention!", is all I get from reading that dribble from Russ. There's a term for people like him. It is "Attention Slut" ::)

It's not like it was some sort of press release or something. It was on HIS website that people have to seek out to get to.

I mean it's not like he is posting it on a public message board or something. But maybe I missed that post between the MULTIPLE people here talking about karma and celebrating his departure from the station and posting information about where he lives or lived. You can see how easy it would have been to miss.

I don't think HE posted it here. The irony of course is the term you applied to his could just as easily be applied to your own post. But I'm sure you knew that.

The god part of his blog was just a running gag that he does on the show, do you not listen to shows you critique?

No, they do not.

Perhaps he can get a bible reading show on KSKY or KWRD eventually.

That would be like giving Jack E. Jett a talk show on WBAP, the novelty would be there for two or three weeks, then the listenership would dry up..

No offense to Jack, as he's a pretty cool guy....

That's if these two stations are around much longer .
