Looks like Mr, Levine is puttin' his money where his mouth is! Our 1 year anniversary on FM.

Dolly Parton at the Roxy..... February 2nd and the only way to get tickets is to win 'em!! I'm guessin' they'll be wantin' us to call in...... LIVE!

you do realize that no other stations are actually airing live callers...

Sooooooo........ shirleyschmidt and RebaFan, what do you ladies think of this turn of events?

Looks like it might be fun and is a step in the right direction promotionwise, for the station. Do you suppose KKGO will supply the drinks and food, not to mention parking? LOL... just dreaming here and while I'm at it, how 'bout a tank of gas for those of us who do not live in LA? This is my fantasy and I'm stickin' to it!

Nice to see you back shirleyschmidt...... I thought we were going to hafta bring shirleyschmidlap in to substitute for you.

Hope y'all had a nice holiday!

I doubt the station is putting up money as record labels and recording companies, etc. give packages like these to stations to promote their event.

As I see it, there isn't much to celebrate in January as Go Country started in October 2006.

A celebration of KKGO ... which began in October with Melody Morgan and then with Brian Douglas in the morning... January brought Shawn Parr to mornings and February brought KKGO to FM AFTER being on 2 AM stations...
This is a great promotion for Dolly, who's record label probably footed the bill for this event and the station is riding the coattails for her new release.
I am GLAD to see that an older artist is going to be played more on the station where Porter and Hank Thompson were not even acknowledged when they passed away in 2007... EVEN after I sent e-mails to the station letting them know of this GREAT artists having passed.

I'm sorry.... Todd did mention, the memo from the boss said the party was to celebrate GoCountry's move to FM.

I guess I was just so relieved that we were not losing him, after his hours had been reduced in spite of his immense popularity or the station was not changing formats again, I forgot about everything else.

I too am glad that KKGO is not losing Todd Baker, I didn't think he was going anywhere... although I have only met him once he seems to be a very outgoing nice and kind person with his priorities straight ... I heard of how he was at a KKGO event and when another host was giving passes to sit near the front and neglected to recognize 2 disabled teens as soon as Todd had a wristband in his hand to give out he sought those girls out and insured they were able to sit up close and see what was going on too...

It is a celebration of Country Music coming to FM and I am happy that there is a country station for people to listen to on FM as I am one of the group of people that fought for it with MANY others on the boards once known as countryboards that are now the KKGO message boards.
I wish the station acknowledged the other milestones in the fight, like the flip of 540AM and then 1260AM.
The LISTENERS threw the 1st party when we got FM back... and we had a blast, invited all the radio personalities and only ONE showed up... the ONE that was no longer even on the station... Brian Douglas was gracious enough to come by with his family and spend the day with us to celebrate.

You are so right RebaFan... Brian Douglas was a huge reason we got Country Music back in LA/OC.

He is such a nice guy..... so warm and welcoming. I never felt like I had just met him. He was never snooty because he was a hotshot radio personality. He's real! That's the only way to put it.
