OH NO! DANCING WITH THE STARS COMING TO GAME SHOW NETWORK

Don't think I'd call Dancing a game show. Looks like GSN may be going the way of
TV Land.
I can just see it now "a Dancing With The Stars rerun marathon all weekend on GSN."

This is also the same show that led BBC America away from its "no American shows" rule.

WTH? This is getting way too far, Game Show Network! I'd love to see TPiR, I've Got a Secret, What's My Line, etc. back on GSN. The late 90s were the good days (maybe except the Dark Period of '97-'98).

I think this means the beginning of the end of GSN- when they stoop this low when it comes to shows, it means they are giving up.

GSN gave up a long time ago when they started airing original shows as well as revival shows of game shows which didn't do very well for them. If they think dancing is called a game show, then I think they that have run out of ideas or comprehension of what a game show is.

Why didn't ABC Family pick up the rights for reruns of Dancing With The Stars since it's also run by Disney instead of running it on GSN?

I wouldn't worry at all; this is like what happened when they got to the rights to The Amazing Race and quickly threw them into the maw of overnights because the ratings were zilch and nobody want to relive the episodes all over again. We'll see this get a six-month push before they realize how much damage a two-hour syndicated program (unless they're edited hour-long eps) does to their schedule and quickly pull back on airing it.

Remember how TLC was going to air Undercover Boss repeats a few months ago, but they have yet to materialize? And no way ABC Family picked this up at all; they're still trying to deny that they ever marathoned The Bachelor nonstop to complete and utter apathy before their "New Kind of Family" era.

TLC has been airing repeats of "Undercover Boss" since July, originally Mondays at 8PM ET, since moved to Thursdays at 9PM ET.

Care to explain that Dark Period for those who waited until January 2, 2000 (like me) to activate their DirecTV rigs? After all, I've deducted from this board that the glory days of TVL, at least, were the late '90s, which I just missed out on.

This was a period when GSN's contract to show Goodson-Todman game shows (other than The Price is Right and the 1994-1995 Family Feud) expired, resulting with the network showing lesser-known game shows in their library, mainly episodes that Sony, the owner of GSN, owns -- these included shows from the Barry & Enright and Bob Stewart libraries (The Joker's Wild, The $10,000 Pyramid), plus shows from other producers (like The Diamond Head Game). The "Dark Period" lasted from October 1997 until April 1998, when a new contract with Mark Goodson was signed.

Using GSN's logic, we should probably expect "American Idol" reruns on their network, too. :p
