So, after 3 years of doing Oh Wow weekends and every noon and 5p, why did Mix co-up the concept. What happened to the "whatever weekends"?

Simple. because Oh wow, no one's had a new, unique radio programming idea, concept or promotion in over a dozen years!
Oh wow-all they do is either rip off someone else's idea or warm up the leftovers...
Oh wow-even JACK (bob, sam, tony, mickey, horace, terry and 10001 other names) came from the Internet.

Oh Wow Will, you seem edgy to me, maybe you're not flipping burgers and saltin' fries, you're probably a big Boston DJ. My bad, I was just wondering why MIX would copy a little old Manchvegas station's stuff.

I'm going to explain this one more time, so read carefully.
WBMX is a radio station in BOSTON. A large market with intense competition for dwindling advertising dollars. They are owned by CBS, a big national company that owns stations in other large markets. When WBMX makes a decision, it is made by people who have the knowledge and expertise to compete for big Boston ad dollars. Much of what they do is decided upon by people in New York who got there because they have been running important radio stations for a long time. It has nothing to do with a station in Manchester, New Hampshire, which has some talented broadcasters, but not Boston-caliber broadcasters.

Some of WZID's staff have been on the air in Boston. As you know, radio jobs and openings are dwindling everywhere, including Boston. Many major market broadcasters nowadays will go for a more secure job at a successful station in a nearby small market, rather than a less secure and less rewarding job (or no job) in a major market, and WZID is top-rated in its market.
As for the "Oh Wow Weekends", if you broaden your scope beyond New England, I'm sure you'll find many stations in many markets doing "Oh Wow Weekends". It's a known programming gimmick that's been around for years, long before WZID started doing it.

Hey Will, Thanks for teaching new posters how things are done around here, now could you tell me what other stations are doing Oh Wow Weekends? I've googled and oogled and keep coming up empty. Now a smart board op, I mean a former radio person like yourself should be able help me.

Tonight, I will make $125-$140 for 3 hours of work. How many radio jobs pay that much? Better question: How many of them are available?
The industry was closed off to people like me long ago. It's going to be the same 20 people who get jobs until FM becomes useless.
