94.5 K-Soul has dropped to a 1.9. What is it gonna take for Radio One to wake up and realize the "Hits and Dusties" are no longer working?

K-Soul was doing OK there for a while. Why the sudden nosedive? I know you guys would prefer it to flip to something newer, but do you see a difference in the presentation? The redundancy of songs? The jocks or management? I think something bigger is going on here, but I just don't listen to K-Sock enough anymore to know what it is. (My reason for tuning out is because XM 64 plays more of the classic R&B that I want to hear, and the signal doesn't fade. But I've noticed some that K-Sock doesn't play as much *REAL* classic R&B than they used to. I hear more obscure, "Quiet Storm"-type songs now than ever before. Again, I don't listen consistently enough to know if that's the case 24/7.)

Mike, I think KRNB is beating KSOC because they are serving the 30 plus crowd better and their signal is better. I'm 40 and K-Soul is too old for me. It's one thing to play the classics, but when you play the same ten classics over and over, it gets stale. The only thing I like about K-Soul is "The Workday Jumpoff". The music they play at that time is what I would like to hear on a consistent basis. Last, but not least, I still can't understand the purpose of hiring Spinderella. When you think of Spinderella, you think of classic hip hop which is not even being played on her show, let alone in regular rotation.

I have preferred KSOUL to KRNB the past several years and still do but I agree that perhaps KSOUL sounded better a few years ago. Easily take KKDA-AM over both musically but that is of course one unique station and survives regardless of ratings share.

One other thing, KRNB has more local DJs than KSOUL maybe that makes a difference. KSOUL has both morning and afternoon drive with national shows.

I just think K-Soul is too old....

The way you start your day in Radio is how you most likely end up. The morning show has never won in D-FW. The afternoon show is also syndicated and has run out of steam. Like politics all radio is local. There is very little local on this frequency.

I noticed that Radio One has made adjustments to their other urban ac stations in other markets,(Charlotte, DC, Philadelphia, and now Cincinnati).... Hello Dallas.....

Jammin' Oldies???

Jeff, did you notice the majority of jammin oldies are 80's and 90's?...

I forgot to mention the station I'm talking about is WMOJ in Cincinnati.

I'm a man! I'm 40!

And your point is....

Its a drop from Mike Gundy, head football coach of the Oklahoma State Univ. Cowboys. At a press conference about 2 years ago he uttered those words to a Stillwater newspaper columnist.
