Ohh So Close!

Last night was pretty interesting for AM DX. I heard a couple of stations, but could not ID them.

From Coldwater, MI

660- Country- Playing 'Building Bridges' by Brooks And Dunn. Heard between 9:30-10:00. Was hoping for KTNN and I actually turned on their web stream, but the country station never came back.

1650- Standards- Been hearing this one a lot this week. Very faint signal and it always fades into the static at the end of a song. Not finding any Standards stations on 1650!

What you're hearing on 1650 is a test of CJRS from Montreal, they're scheduled to launch a 24 hour Jewish radio station in the next few days. I can't help you with the station on 660, sorry, but that should answer one of your questions

Thanks anyways. I will log CJRS the next time I hear it!

I'm about 5% sure that I was hearing KTNN on 660. I heard what sounded like Indian chants and music underneath very heavy interference from WFAN and splatter from WSM-650. Guess i'll have to keep trying for that one!

In SW Fla (Englewood) I've also been trying to log the 660 out of Window Rock but w/ no success-too much stuff to the south as well as WFAN. I know it is possible because conditions are so unpredictable in winter. Have ID'd 10 kw stations from the Dallas metro area and Ft. Smith AK on the X band (about 1hr before sunset) ) and ID'd KOA Denver at night several times which is about the same distance from Englewood as Window Rock is from ColdH20 Michigan.
Keep trying even a blind dog finds a bone. It would be a cool catch.

If you were hearing indian chats/music on 660 ,that was definitely KTNN

That had to have been KTNN. I hear them quite well from southern CA, and that's what they play - Indian chaNts and country music.

But i'm not very sure I was actually hearing it. I don't like to log stations until I am 100% that i'm hearing them. Either by a station ID, area mention or an area code or any local indicator.

I will get KTNN someday.. Right now, my N. American distance record is practically frozen at 1171 miles, set by CBK-540 in Saskatchewan

Shatter your record by trying 530! I've done transatlantic stations on 531 several times recently.
