ok...fine! i'll talk about radio in here!

Are there any english language radio stations in Mexico?
I'm just wondering, since I've never been there.

Well, as I have stated before in the Latin America Board, I have only heard stations with English Liners. one good Example is D-99 in Monterrey. Take a listen to their live stream in their website http://www.d99fm.com/

And I don't know if you can include the stations in Tijuana BCN. Some of the stations there are in English exclusively for the San Diego Area. Some include Blazin' 98.9 and Z 90.3.

until recently, 88.1 fm in mexico city was a 24 hour english radio station. With news, traffic, music and talk shows in English, as well as NFL fo0tball, I think it was the last one in the capital. It is now called red fm, after it's call letters, XERED, it's a compliment to it's highly successful AM sister, XERED 1110. The only other station I know of that has any english at all is XEMU 580. like D99, they have a full legal ID in english, that lists them as broadcasting from Eagle Pass Texas and gives an Eagle pass mailing address. The spanish ID lists the true city of origin as Piedras Negras, and like all mexican radio stations, they play the Mexican National Anthem at midnight. This little 5kw station puts one hell of a signal into southeast Iowa at nights and (at last time I was able to hear them) in AM stereo.

There are two English stations in/near Cd. Juarez, Coah.. One on AM (1110 IIRC) with oldies, one on 99.1 FM with rock. Both target an audience in the U.S.. There is also an English TV station in Matamoros, again targeting a U.S. audience.

English language lessons seem to be a rather popular topic for advertising on Mexican stations, so it doesn't seem to be all that unusual to hear a little bit of English on a station that's otherwise all-Spanish.

D-99 Monterey sure had me fooled during a recent skip opening! Couldn't figure out who the underground rock station was in that part of Texas<grin>. I think I heard *one* song with Spanish lyrics, otherwise all that was in Spanish was the ads.

Well, if you put in on border perspective, then there is a lot os stations from Mexico that aim towrads US cities. Tijuana has a coup;le of AM station, some FM station, and like three TV station (have'nt really counted them) Fox MyTV and another one i think.
