OK, now what?

I don't understand your concern. What's not to like with the Fish or Steve & Vicki? OK, I'll concede that Steve & Vicki get a little risque at times, but I assure you that we have many people working on putting an end to the nasty, sex-oriented talk they sometimes engage in! Don't think for a minute our staffers have stopped monitoring everything for filth. There's so much more work to be done. We're still not happy with cable TV, and of course, we now have satellite radio to deal with. The Lord's work is never done and we will never stop!

BUT... after all this negative talk I've seen on this board, I wanted to bring to the discussion something positive: namely, sincere thanks for putting in a conservative Republican Congress, Senate, and President. Together they've done what we've been working on for years -- they ceded control of the radio airwaves to us God-fearing Christian Soldiers. The passage of 10x fines was the final nail in the coffin of the smut-peddlers! Nobody, and I mean nobody, is worth the risk now. At last we can let our children listen to the radio.

On behalf of myself, Paul Weyrich, Dr. Dobson, Don Wildmon and others, THANK YOU for supporting the Christian right!

God bless you!

I agree with the guy a few posts ago...Mayhem in the AM is the closest thing to "Guy talk" there is in Atlanta... I think Mike Bell is an underrated talent. As for XM, I remember when XM was replaying the RG's show from 7-11pm every night. They ended up getting bumped for some guy from Orlando. O&A are definitely the best overall show in the Country right now IMO. They consistently deliver interesting content with many laughs. And you can hear their show throughout the day if you miss anything from the morning.

No Clear Channel stations. Day 7.

I don’t care for 99X or Q100, and a combination of commute time and weak signal rules out 790. It looks like O&A on XM is the only thing left for me. Since a lot of folks on this board are in the business, maybe someone can answer a couple of questions:

The RG show was getting a 2.8 share. Is that not enough for another station to take a chance and air a similar “edgy” show?

What kind of revenue does a 2.8 for a four hour show translate into?

Take a look at the money section of USA Today today and the article about how fast in-car Internet access is happening. Wi-Max isn't even going to slow it down, they're up and running on cellular signals. That means every Internet radio station on the planet, piped right into your car no matter where you are.

Strong local radio brands will still have the advantage...for awhile. But those satellites XM and Sirius launched are already obsolete. There'll be no such thing as "broad"casting.

Regarding CleaningUp4Jesus' post...not quite sure how you pin the blame for two Hispanics being taped in a bathroom on a vast Christian conspiracy, but no matter how many times per day you want to hear f*** or audio of people having sex in churches, it'll be there for you on Internet radio.

I don’t really care for the Stern level of crudeness and high f-bomb counts, but I do like a bit of an edge. Atlanta radio has about as much edge as a big puffy marshmallow.
