from Deadline.com

In OWN's first night of a holiday weekend, the average audience was 1 million. Day 2 the
audience was 822,000. It is available in 67% of homes and 80% of cable homes.

The estimated cost of starting OWN is $200 million. The average nightly viewership for
Discovery Health was 252,000 viewers in primetime last year.

comment:
Is Oprah worried? HELL YES! We all know a Martha Stewart channel would not survive.
If OWN fails this will be Oprah's largest failure ever. Now, how long till we see reruns of
227 and Amen on OWN, and infomercials at 2AM??????

I heard during the news on WCBS 880 some people weren't happy that the channel isn't on regular cable. For me its on regular cable. I know some places its not.

At least she'll be off OTA. :D

Or will she?
NBC 24, her old affilate in Redding,CA is running a best of Oprah now
All the Oprah affiliates are playing reruns right now. I believe Oprah only does 150 new shows a year (she told Barbara Walters that she would do 75 OWN shows, half her usual total, starting in 2012). 150 new shows translates to just 30 weeks of original programming, which leaves 22 weeks of encores/reruns/best-of. I believe that Ellen and a few other daytime yakkers still do the full 39 weeks. A few (Regis/TheView/TheTalk) seem to do 45-46 "original" weeks.

The last original Oprah Winfrey Show airs in May. Then "best-of" all the way until September 9, when her syndication deal concludes.
