OK what are the worst Hip Hop stations

M

either too heavy on R&b or too conservative on hip hop,,, or just overall bad presentation and imaging...

magic 103 in Kansas city

Jamn 94.5 boston

95.5 The beat Atlanta

Hot 98.1 Senaca South carolina.

107.3 in Toledo...

I actually like Ksfm,, and Kdon 102.5 and wild 94.9 and kmel..... but your right, those other stations suck,, arent even hip hop stations, just black music for suburban white boys, and jocks that try to talk black.... if you have white jocks then give the station a chr presentation, dont try to feel the streets when you have no clue............yeah I hate having white djs that try to talk black........ Im a white guy, but I think blacks should do the more rap heavy stations, and the whites can do the stations like b-96 chicago, and hispanics are good for stations like Power 96 miami and power 106 LA.....

Z-93 JAMZ (Charleston, SC)

HOT 98.1 (Greenvile, SC)

95.5 The BEAT (Atlanta, GA)

96.3 WJIZ (Albany, GA)

99 JAMZ (Miami, FL)

Jamn 94.5 boston, ma i cant stand that station so pop
106.5 the beat richmond , va another clear channel station that plays r&b mostly n half ass mixshows
103,5 the beat mia ,,, they claim they play hip-hop but its clear channel
majority of clear channel hip-hop stations suck

103.5 The Bomb and KSFM 102.5 in Sacramento. KSFM plays more pop like their rivals KDND 107.9, but are loyal to their listeners. KBMB is trying to be like KSFM and play too much pop. They been having extreme low ratings for the last year because of Big Boy's show no one listens to in Sac. Also, bad mixshows(Fridays and Saturday night mixes ending at midnight-bunch of party poopers). On Saturday nights after midnight, they have a mixshow till 3am, but it's already pre-recorded. KBMB is biased, especially after banning Chris Brown songs and none of the others for their crime and recording songs that degrade women and contains illegal activities. To add on, 103.5 The Bomb wants to do whatever they want to do and not give what the listeners want. Their music director Short-E needs to be demoted, Pattie Moreno, program director, needs to go, Dj Mofo, mixshow coordinator, needs to be demoted, and Famous and most of the Bomb staff and street team needs to go. They treat listeners like trash. A good friend of mine used to be an intern at the radio station from 2007-2008 and told me all of this was going on. I started to notice that their music, Big Boy, Baka Boyz, and the mixshows were turning garbage last year and they don't care to change and go back to being a real hip-hop station they were in the earlier years ('98-2004). I noticed when KBMB have been at events, they talk down to their listeners when someone gives them respectable criticism of the station and try to help them out with suggestions. They are not professional and therefore, they are one, if not the worst hip-hop station on the West Coast and nationwide.

Ahh man, Clear Channel doesn't know what to do with 103.5 The Beat. The music is everywhere and they are loosing big time.

I agree, Jam'n is crap. I live here in Boston, and unfortunately this is all we have for any kind of Rhythmic station. But yet, the station gets high ratings by default (The only other CHR in town is kiss which is also owned by Clear Channel), so they have no reason but to be as mediocre as possible, as they have a monopoly in the format. I always go out to other towns and cities and hear their hip hop stations, and get blown away because they are light years ahead of WJMN. They suck!!! I think if someone did a REAL Urban or Urban/Rhythmic station in the vein of say Hot 93.7 in Hartford or The Beat in Philly it would kick WJMN's ass.

I agree. I believe anyone who supports real hip-hop(Lil Wayne not included and other mainstream music, aka hip-pop) should run the urban contemporary stations/rap stations. Hip-hop stations are suppose to be playing hip-hop, actually real hip-hop with real lyrics. Unfortunately, KSFM doesn't really count as a hip-hop station. The only time they will play hip-hop is during Club 102 on Fridays and Saturdays. KMEL is the best station in northern California, although they do play a lot of R&B and southern music, but real music though.

Totally 100% agreed.

I don't know what to call them. One minute it's Lady Gaga, the next it's Lil Jon.

Their imaging guy doesn't even fit with the format anymore, that's how pop it has gone.

My boss summed it up as this when we heard Brittany Spears "Awww Jam'n has gone soft!!!!"

ALSO Jammin' 107.5 Portland, Oregon WAS a good station even up until a year ago, then they once again traded hands to Clear Channel and the station officially had it's funeral.

One last note, they're spoiled down in Hartford, I really wish we had a station like HOT 93.7 in Boston!

I would have to say Jamn 945 down in Boston. I just think they sound too pop. It needs less Brittney Spears and Lady Gaga. It could also have a larger playlist. If I want to listen to a good hip hop station in Maine I stream Hot 106 out of Providence.

WIBT Charlotte 96.1 the beat Clear channel Tagged Rhythmic but it's too "popy". I think it needs to be changed to the CHR Top 40 Panel.

Yeah, you guys in Northern California have a slew of crappy Rhythmics, but 106.1 KMEL is amazing. When I visited family there, I was blown away by the station's presentation and playlist. I couldn't believe that station is owned by Clear Channel when I found out.

I prefer to listen to KMEL, but I could only listen to it online. I live in Sacramento and on the 106.1 dial, there is a spanish station that takes the spot. If it wasn't for the spanish station, Sacramento would be getting KMEL. Although KMEL plays a lot of R&B throughout the day, along with lots of southern music, they play real music(hip-hop, bay area music, real R&B and good southern music). They are not as mainstream as KSFM, KYLD, KWIN, and KBMB because they don't play pop songs. I prefer KMEL and KBZR 106.5 The Buzz. They play 90s music and they play hip-hop often on that station.

And I like 96.1 The Beat in Charllote, but its not supposed to be a rap station,, we have Power 98 for real hip hop-rap.....
