It's probably going to be 93.9, and in only 11 days. ABC Radio is to become part of Citadel on June 12, and someone on this forum previously said that, legally, as soon as that happens, WCYI will have to start doing something unique from WCYY. Then, once WCYI/WCLZ are sold to their new owner, who knows what will happen... it all really depends on the buyer.

I believe 93.9 & 98.9 are in a trust,so nothing is probobly going to happen on June 12.Couldn't Citadel have moved 93.9 to their Augusta cluster? 93.9's primary coverage area doesn't reach Portland but covers Augusta really well. That could have even been a possibility for 98.9.Aren't Portland And Augusta about equal distance from Augusta?

My understanding is that until the sale is final June 12th, nothing need change. I could be wrong though--I'll look into it and get back to you all. Also, I believe that the trust can ask the FCC to provide temporary authorization to keep using programming on CYY and CLZ.

An update is now posted on the WCLZ website:

To the Listeners of 98.9 WCLZ

We wanted to alert you to changes going on here at CLZ. Our parent company, Citadel Broadcasting, is in the process of acquiring ABC Radio. When the sale of ABC Radio to Citadel Broadcasting Company occurs we are obligated to put WCLZ in a trust based on FCC ownership rules. While in the trust, the station will remain as it is today. The format will be the same and the on-air personalities and shows will remain. The only change is that it will no longer be owned by Citadel. Everyone at the station is very proud of WCLZ's relationship with local artists, organizations, and local businesses so nothing on the station will change while it is in the trust. When the trust sells the station another owner will decide the future direction of WCLZ. It is our hope that a new owner will understand what a special station WCLZ is for southern Maine and will continue with the current format. We will keep you up to date here at wclz.com with any additional information. We thank you for supporting us!

And yes, June 12 will be the end for 93.9 'CYY. But what will go in its place for now? From the website:

Urgent Message to 93.9 WCYY Listeners

Attention! If you listen to WCYY on the 93.9 frequency this is an urgent message. In order to comply with FCC ownership regulations, the WCYY simulcast at 93.9 will be going off the air on June 12, 2007. You will still be able to hear Portland’s New Rock Alternative at 94.3 FM or by streaming online at wcyy.com. We apologize for any inconvenience. Again because of an order by the FCC, be informed that CYY’s Modern Rock is going off at 93.9 but WILL REMAIN at 94.3. If you’re having trouble receiving WCYY at 94.3 in your area we will be happy to send you a free FM dipole antenna while supplies last. Just e-mail us your antenna request. As it has been, The Opie and Anthony Show will continue on 93.9. The bad news? The WCYY simulcast on 93.9 will be going off the air June 12, 2007. The good news? You’ll ALWAYS be able to hear Portland’s New Rock Alternative at 94.3 FM or by streaming online at wcyy.com. Come on over to 94.3 for your favorite Modern Rock on CYY…It’s Modern Rock Forever on 94.3 WCYY
