Okay L.A. do you WANT a dance station? Fight!

But I could have kept it going and going because I really like the challenge of going up on the "haters". The dance fans are going to support this no matter what. It's the haters showing their colors that I really want to go on.

Heck, if you want me to come back on the Philly board and start this again...then bring it!

Maybe John McCain should've vetted you to be his VEEP pick Tony because you share with Sarah Palin a significant personality trait: the both of you label as "haters" those who hold contrasting opinions!
I'm not quite sure though how such vindictiveness promotes healthy dialogue.

I actually don't mind contrasting opinions. In fact, I have answered those with contrasting opinions rather well, yourself included.
It's when the contrast comes with ignorance that I put my foot down.

Okay, you don't like dance music....fine, I'm not here to change that on you or anyone that feels the same. But for those that do and perhaps don't know how to speak out or afraid to express, that's where I come in. And that mentality of "disco sucks" still holds strong, especially in the radio industry. So if I'm pushing that much harder, understand...that's what I'm getting and that's why I fight back. I think every post you see that I write, I try my best to put it in a well thought out, logical manner that ENHANCES discussion. And on a lot of boards, I have succeeded.

On the Philly board? That's the ignorance. And I'm glad DToTheJ pointed that thread out because I actually "use" it in discussions about the dance music negativity out there. So if something positive came out of it...there it is.

N00b here... I actually created an account just to post this.

I've been a diehard follower & DJ of "dance music" since I was 13 years old. I remember listening to Mars FM, Groove, 96.7 The Vibe in OC, Power Tools, "LA's HOTTEST MUSIC," and off course KDL.

In all honesty, I think a "dance" station in LA would be great. Lots of people love dance. However, I think we need something fresh. Every time someone tries to do a dance station, they always default to the same old tried and tested formulas and that's why they fail. And please, no disrespect to Swedish Egil, but if a new dance station was to come to light, keep him off it!!!!

KDL would've been great if they added new music. Instead, they played stuff that was way behind. Seriously, how many times can you hear Castles In The Sky or Lasgo without going insane?

Dance music is big here in LA. If it wasn't, why would DJ's such as TIESTO sell out the LA SPORTS ARENA all by him self? Not to mention DAFT PUNK who without having any new material in years, sold out the Sports Arena and had better reviews than Madonna, during their Coachella 2006 appearance.

If a dance station was to come to LA, they need to stay with the times, and obviously add some older stuff in there too, but not make it 90% of their playlist. KDL sounded stale.

Besides Power Tools, the only other mainstream station in LA that plays dance during their mixshows is Super Estrella. If you listen to Super Estrella Live, they mix a lot of dance music with a lot of Spanish Top 40 remixes. Granted, it's not exactly the format Im looking for or want, but its a start.

I'm the main DJ at one of the clubs that Super Estrella broadcasts from and we recently dropped Top 40 and went to mainly House, Electro, Trance, and Spanish Rock. That formula is working great. So great, our club sells out by 10:30pm. This is a mainstream club in OC. I think we have something going on that no other club can rival us. We are blurring the line between underground dance and mainstream by combining them both. Eitherway, I think that's shows what people are into at the moment.

If a dance station came back, I would love to hear something along the lines of Dance Department. That's an awesome radio show on Radio 538 in the neatherlands. It's so awesome, they made it into a 24hr format on the net. On their podcasts they play a mix of mainstream remixes and some underground stuff too. Pretty cutting edge. But I think in LA they would need to add a little bit more mainstream stuff.

Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, and many other TOP International DJ's have syndicated mixshows. LA needs some of them too. I think Indie & 106.3 tried them for a while, but lack promotion.

If dance music wasn't that big, Tiesto would've not been the ONLY DJ in the world to play during the 2004 opening ceremonies of the olympics. This guy is getting sponsorship from Armani Exchange, Nike, Coca Cola and more. Those are big selling points.

Many major cities around the world have dance stations. Heck, even Mexico City has one!

Someone needs to revolutionize LA Radio and give us the cutting edge dance station we been craving for many years.

I stopped listening to all of LA Radio a long time ago. It sucks!!!!

One last thing, right now it's the perfect time to start a Dance Station in LA. There's a huge "hipster" movement going around with bands such as Justice popping up. Electro is huge too. Too huge, that I'm borderline calling it burned out. Hip Hop is dying. This is the perfect opportunity for any broadcaster to take advantage of this void on the radio and to use it as a launch pad. Your listeners are already here. Use that to your advantage before the next trend evolves and dance music dies out again.
