Okay Listen Here....A Lot of you all on this board seem to have a hate for the small radio operator in Jacksonville that goes by the name of Renda Broadcasting. As of matter of fact you all down it so much it makes me sick to my stomach. Only wcrzx seems to make sense and wcrzx agrees on a lot of the stuff they are doing like I am.

Most of you all have down Kool 100.7 so much you all do not seem to care if the station even exist. Heck someone on the board complained about Tom Murphy doing the traffic reports. Well for one if they have not got the system connect up yet for a traffic reporter to do the traffic in the afternoons then he is going to have to do the traffic. And second I would rather hear my traffic report from a live local radio station and not some report from Orlando that is wrong most of the time (Reference to CC-Traffic that comes out of Orlando). Then you all complain about Gator using this thing call a "Kool or Cool" edit. Give me a break! If CC had not done what they did would they be in this situation? No. Jeff Davis is having to use more money and time to fix something that he should not even have to be doing because of some BS that CC did.

If you do not allow Renda the chance to do whats right and let them get it done, then you could cause a big mess.

And if you look at right now even thought Pittsburgh may be their home market it is not their biggest market right now. Jacksonville is and they are going to make sure it is done right.

The whole purpose of this board is back and forth discussion. It's not a false praise board, it's not a board for Renda apologists or homers and it's not for those in the biz who can't take reality.

Top markets like Jacksonville do not have a big-time PM Drive market veteran doing his own traffic reports. The fact they don't have a system in place is not OUR fault- it's theirs.

And please don't blame Clear Channel or Cox or anybody else for Renda's problems. It's up to Renda, CC, Cox or anybody to be ready when they engage in a radio battle and listeners who hear sub-par radio don't give a rip WHY, only that it's not up to their standards.

Finally, your comment about "if you don't give Renda a chance you're going to make a big mess". How could any of US make a mess for Renda.

It's their game to win or lose and the current sentiment seems to lean toward the latter.

Probably because he works there...I'd assume...it just seems that way with how rah-rah-Renda he is all the time. Personally, I've got no beef with any of the radio companies in town.

Of course...and if people feel the need to complain about that, so be it. I think I'd rather hear Tom than certain people I've heard at Traffic Center in the past.

So long as they have producers that are hearing the same information from the local emergency agencies (police, fire, etc.), the traffic should be equally as accurate. If it isn't, it's because they're not doing a good job, or they don't have enough info.

Sorry, people were bitching about the fact that it sounded so chopped off, and it sounds as though someone just brought the liners into the program "Cool Edit" (aka Audition) and chopped them. That was the point, and you missed it. It was a crappy edit, in their opinion. With lots of radio imaging being produced elsewhere these days, sometimes it's the only option you have. I don't know how much of Renda's stuff is done in-house, or if the edits have been cleaned up...

Besides, what CC did was smart from a business standpoint, even if you thought it was crappy.

How? No one here has any real influence on Renda's success. We're just a bunch of people talking about radio stations. Don't assume you have any power just being on this board, my friend...because you don't.

When did Pittsburgh (market #23) become smaller than Jacksonville (market #49)? Renda has three stations in Pittsburgh, and four stations here, so the "number of stations" argument is silly (and actually not really valid yet - they still have to finish moving WSOS - besides, they already have four stations in Oklahoma City, Indiana PA, and Fort Myers/Naples). No offense. The only station they have in Jacksonville making any sort of a dent right now is Lite 96.1. Sure, the others may follow, but that's the speculation...people (and ESPECIALLY radio people) are going to complain if they think things aren't being run very well. Personally, I don't have any issues with what Renda's doing...

Once again you are way off the mark. Stop smoking the crack and just worry about the stations in your own market. The reason the edits soud chooped was that they were at 10pm at night. When Renda got the TRO they had to change things quick. It seems that everybody expects KQL to sound like the old station. It doesn't and won't! Was CC smart for going after Renda sure will they win in the long run with the Cease and desist. I doubt it. Only time will tell. Will WKQL ever be a top 5 station, No. Can it be a top 10 maybe. Will GNE be a top 5 maybe. It will probably be a top 10 within two books if Renda does it right and markets the station. THe concert series is a great start. It just amzes me that everybody (Oldies cat) complains and if I am correct he is not even in the market.!

Now I hope Renda goes after CC with their Dixie in the AM doing traffics. Very interesting that she didn't sstart using that name until after Dixie started on WGNE.

Many who post comments on this board have a true love of radio and have spent many years in the business. And what seem like negative comments towards Renda are really frustrations being projected. It’s not that anybody believes CC or Cox walks on water, but it’s apparent to the board that Renda’s start-up stations are a little unfocused. And frankly
it’s mind boggling why any owner stepping into a highly competitive market like Jacksonville would have so many loose strings. With 3 country stations all competing for the same pie, it’s beyond comprehension to understand not having all the ducks in a row, including resources for marketing and promotions or simply deciding what to call your new station. Is it Froggy, Gator or The Gator? Congratulations to their PD for moving forward with the summer concerts, at least local management is thinking clearly through the Renda’s Fog.. Why take ownership of KOOL? a well known and liked brand and dissemble any likeness of it? Former listeners hoping to hear their favorite jocks
and songs once heard on Kool were probably disappointed by Renda’s version.
and have since changed buttons on their radios. Arrow listeners? They left along time ago. Here’s the big plan, call 100.7 Jack, go jockless and play any mix of hits, it’s almost like Kool. It’s bush league and if CC or Cox made the same blunders you’d hear it from this group. And every time I log on now, it’s all about Renda. I can’t wait for 94.1.

Renda maintains a few hitters in other markets and they also have their share of dogs too. It’s just means every market is different and what works in market 65 may not work with the cookie cutter approach in 49, just ask Clear Channel or Cox.

Radio is not capable of producing mass quantities of new listeners and Jacksonville is a mature radio market with virtually every format niche already owned. So growth or start ups situations are highly depended on listeners switching brands. Kool and Gator could surprise everybody and rise to the top quickly or it could take months to years for both stations to become hitters.

So sit back relax and see what happens..

And the whole debacle with Froggy/GatorCountry/the Gator just seems amateurish to me....I really hope they do well...I ,like many of us know people working there, but so far they have a lot to prove..... It can be done but who knows???

So Clear Channel has a traffic reporter named "Dixie" now? That's just sick. No, wait, that's competition! Something tells me this will degenerate into stickering each others' vans and mascots attacking each other. I'd pay to see that! I don't recall Jacksonville radio having a real, sustained, bitter war in my lifetime.

Back to the original post...Not everyone is here to be in a Mutual Admiration Society. We share war stories, rumors, speculation, and armchair programming ideas. If we always agreed with each other, there would be no reason to hang out here.

Mburg, please don't take it personally that we are not wholly in love with Renda Broadcasting and do not praise and support their every move with such fanaticism. The board is fortunate to have someone who listens to 99.9 as much as you and believes in what they're doing. As you know, that's definitely an unique perspective!

But for the love of Dixie Jones, please check the name calling and "just you wait" stuff. You have made some good contributions to the board so we know you're not a troll. Work with us a little. Let's just have conversations as if we were all sitting in the same room together, and maybe all your responses won't be "flames."
