OLBERMANN DEBUT GETS 10 TIMES CURRENT'S REGULAR PRIMETIME VIEWER AVERAGE

...179,000 viewers, Fred. When was the last time you drew that many viewers at a single hour?...

We know of Current's availability deficit compared to other news outlets, and yet Countdown still beat CNN's In The Arena 25-54, and wasn't terribly far behind MSNBC at that hour (237,000).

It's a good debut, no matter how you try to dissect it.

I'd watch if Cox carried it...

I surely thought they'd stream it or something online while they build up distribution. The other big thing that Keith brings to Current is distribution leverage.

It's good for Current, but I suspect the long-term prospects are less exciting. That was the debut show and there was a lot of talk about it beforehand. Unless something really unusual happens, he won't have that kind of publicity for a show again. People just don't watch that channel much. His diehard fans will tune in regardless, but it seems unlikely the casual viewer will stop there. We still don't know what his overall viewer total was for the debut. (I'd bet maybe 400,000)

I watch him whenever. I still think he is better than anyone on MSNBC except Rachel.

I could believe 180,000 viewers for Keith. I am often among them, as whenever the left is having a bad
day I find his meltdowns to be quite entertaining.

What I can't believe is that 18,000 people are watching the rest of Current's lineup.

What I can't comprehend is why even 18 people would want to hear his nonsense. I have to admit, I thought he and Dan Patrick were great on ESPN, TV and radio. But by himself, and not just because of his politics, bleeeaaaccckkk!!!

I'm sure the numbers being based on the first night only, are slowly lowering as interest wains. Conan had around 4 million his first night on TBS but that has surely declined to around under a million.

I have watched every show and I think he is as great as ever. Sorry. I'm glad he has most of his cast back like John Dean, Marcus Malitsos, Jon Turley, David Schuster, and James Thurber. I do miss the opening graphics

David Shuster, another former MSNBC employee (used to sub for Olbermann on his show) - thought he was rumored to end up at CNN.
