Olbermann Renews MSNBC Contract Through 2011; Gets Own Primetime Specials On NBC

NEW YORK - Keith Olbermann will continue to be a thorn in Bill O’Reilly’s side for at least four more years.

NBC News announced Thursday it had agreed to a “second term” with the MSNBC “Countdown” host, whose contract was due to expire next month. The extension will take him into 2011.

Olbermann will also contribute occasional essays to “NBC Nightly News” and there will be two prime-time “Countdown” specials a year on NBC, a division of NBC Universal, said NBC News President Steve Capus.

Somewhere Bill O'Reilly is turning over desks and throwing computer chairs.

Woo-hoo!

There is no better newscaster that Keith Olbermann. And he is going to get specials on the mother network.

As for Bill Orally, let him suffer. Bill O' deserves it.

I think its funny how Bill-O and his fellow conservatives big mouths complain oabout Olbermann giving his opinion when they do the exact same thing! Sure, he's usually giving the opposite opinion, but so what? Does Bill-O want a jack ass conseravtive talker up against him? Wouldn't that hurt him more? I don't think many of Olbermann's viewers would be caught dead watching Bill-O anyway.

You might be surprised - I've heard at least one liberal thinker comment that she tuned to FOX News Channel in the morning because it was the best thing to motivate her to get out of bed and start getting ready to leave the house. I guess you could say it "angries up the blood" to use a Simpsons reference. :D

...it's the same basic principle under which proud progressive Harlan Ellison claims the National Review is the perfect magazine to read while taking a dump. Ellison claims he's never gotten two minutes into any of William F. Buckley's publications without giving in to the temptation to throw the damned thing into the bathtub...

I really think KO is bordering on pundit and less of a news anchor or journalist. I think it's interesting that he is going to offer commentary's on Nightly News...to me this seems a little interesting since that is always supposed to be a "fair and balanced" show...seems like they are leaning a little more lefty these days. I'm no huge O'Reilly fan either by the way...I think he is an obnoxious blow hard, and I actually like KO's show.

NBC is careful to say he won't be doing commentaries on NBC Nightly News. He can cover news. See the death of Gerald Ford for an example.

Bill O'Reilly 4Million Plus Cume
KO: 345,000 Cume

Who cares what KO has to say nobody is listening. :D

Having KO on NBC nightly news will increase the lead for ABC Evening News over NBC. Smart move NBC. NOT!

Who's got the better job security now?
O'Reilly. Fox has nobody who could get those numbers, even if cut in half. MSNBC, fired its last leftist (Phil Donahue) when at the time he was getting their highest primetime rating ever.

Eitherway, I don't expect either to go anywhere, and I could carless, as I find both there shows retarded.
