Olbermann Returns Tuesday to MSNBC

I wonder about two things, did MSNBC do this for #1. To see how many would complain about Keith Olbermann
not being on, and #2. Do you think this was a "publicity stunt" since the November sweeps are underway?

Yes and yes. It reminds me when "Uncle Miltie" staged his kidnapping and Jack Parr walked off his show.

Good questions!

I wonder what kind of ratings hit, if any, MSNBC took after Olbermann was suspended? If the ratings declined, then perhaps the "suits" at the network had second thoughts about suspending Olbermann.

I'm no fan of Olberman (or O'Reilly for that matter) but I did not think he deserved the suspension. I kind of expected he would have made contributions to a few libs. A far bigger story would have been if he had made contributions to Rand Paul and Christine O'Donnell.

Great Stunt by MSNBC

Nice going to MSNBC for "Suspending" Keith. What a great PR move. In the wake of the Juan Williams mess with NPR this was a brilliant move. I believe that every major network carried the story and treated it so seriously. Talk shows all over the nation stoped their normal discussions to pick up Keith's tale of woe. Watch his ratings on the night he returns..................A new textbook classic case of a media entity playing with the media....................wow!!!!!!!!!!!

"Countdown" is the most popular show on MSNBC so it was pretty clear, to me anyway, that he wasn't going to stay suspended for long.

Nothing like a bit of deception to break the post-election news cycle and get the spotlight on a primary personality for the losing side.

Now KO can copy Howard Stern's whole management is against me / trying to stop me. He can start talking onair about memos he gets, and how he even has to fight his boss to bring the truth. Maybe even name some NBC executives as worst persons every now and then.

This goes to show that you haven't been paying attention; KO dropped the WPITW segment earlier in the same week he was suspended.

Sorry wrong, it was in the news, and I think posted on here. He didn't say it was gone forever, just for the time being.

even a lot of conservatives I know are saying that Olbermann should not be penalized
for being open and transparent about his beliefs and affiliations.
