Olbermann using the "Special Report" sounder a bit too much?

...I'm a HUGE fan of "Countdown w/ Keith Olbermann" but I have to wonder about his over-frequent use of the "NBC News Special Report" sounder as a drop. I could see his doing it to poke fun at the Cruise/Holmes birth a few weeks back, but tonight he used it again to skewer the announcement that Britney Spears is pregnant again. I have to think that the only way he's not getting a nastygram from the NBC News brass is that NBC has a different bulletin sounder on standby now. In Post-9/11 America I'd have to think a lot of people did like me and snapped their heads in the direction of the TV when they heard the NBC Chimes coming from it at about a quarter to 8 Central Time tonight...

He's lampooning the silly overuse of "breaking news" (especially on Fox News) for entertainment related stories. You should see what CNN and ABC News e-mails to me on a regular basis as "Breaking News." The one that got be to send them a nastygram was a "Breaking News" e-mail sent telling me ABC News was going to show exclusive footage of the cell Scott Peterson was in.Outside of a few news junkies around here, the viewers and NBC News people do not care about this. The news has been cancelled on cable news for a few years now anyway.
