old 1300 WFBR radio transmitter site

Exactly where ( streets ) was the old 1300 WFBR transmitter site,I'm talking around the late 50's/early 60's ?
I was told it was down at the waterfront in Baltimore.
How many towers did they have ,were they DA day & night then or just nights, how did the pattern look ,how much power at that time day & night ?

I use to hear them up in New Jersey at night ,if I recall correctly they had a "neat" sounding echo or reverb on their audio.
Exactly what was the format then ,I recall hearing RnR but I don't remember it being all RnR.

I dont know about back in the 50's but in the late 70's early 80's they were messing around with whats called AM stereo and how it worked was you have two radios and they had two signals, one for the left channel which was 1300 and the right channel was like 1290 am, It was kind of crude but i tried it back then and it worked but it didnt last long but their format was a variety of formats but I remember top 40 to AC when they were the Orioles flagship station from 1979 to 1986, And i dont know where their transmitter was

I found this on the dcrtv message board - I worked with Norm Brooks back in the 80's (former PD WFBR) who shared stories of the tower(s) being in the harbor (?). He said they had a really strong signal for their power (5Kw?).

Does anyone know the time line and history of the two old broadcast transmission towers at the Waterview Avenue docks in South Baltimore and a transmitter building that use to be located across from this location? I remember a red brick transmitter building with glass block windows sporting the WBFR 1300 AM call letters there at this location up until perhaps the late 1970's. What years would this location have been used as an active transmitter site for this station? I remember the WFBR studios were located at 13 E. 20th Street in Baltimore and had heard that it had been the station's only studio location from it's original sign on in the 20's. Was this Waterview Avenue site the original transmitter site? Also, are there any stories you might remember about this former Waterview Avenue facility? (6/16/09)
