Old Aircheck cassettes, what did you do with yours?

This question is for the old school Radio people...When you finally decided to get rid of clutter, did you just trash your airchecks cassettes? Did you listen to any first? Keep a few? Is there a "market" for such things?

Still have mine. My wife wanted me to toss them out as trash which I found appalling. My performances may have sucked but those cassettes are still the only record I have of work into which I had invested my heart & soul. Was able to transcribe a few shows to digital a couple of years ago but time is an issue. I'm sure that all of us would like to believe that some day in the future one of our kids, grandkids, great-grandchilden (?) might find one of these relics, listen & think kind thoughts about us. [Or, of course, they might just laugh at what they consider to be our absurdity or toss them out with disdain. But why not think positively!]

I have a rather LARGE plastic bin of them I have been dragging from city to city for years. I also have a special bin where I keep special shows and interviews. I even have a few carts and reel to reel tapes that I can't even hear anymore, but I know what's on them and they are keepers. Timmy T and I recorded a song together, I have that on Scotch cart, no place to play it though, sad. No plan to rid myself of them any time soon! I did weed out some cassettes a couple of years ago, but later it made my stomach turn so I won't do that again. Some times on a long road trip I randomly grab a few and toss them in my car, so when I hit boring radio zones, I can have a laugh at my own expense and flashback to better times when radio was fun and not so corporate! And yes, I have a car (2001) that still has a tape player in it.

hey mark! you are NOT alone! i do the same thing!!! i have my cassettes in a milk crate. i transferred my jingles / liners / sweepers onto several cd's. just to get with the times, i now have them downloaded on to my itunes page. and, yes, i STILL have carts, too!!!! and i do sometimes listen to them to get a good laugh at the crazy stuff i USED to be able to get away with on the air!! now THAT was radio ..... when a dj could be allowed to have fun.

I still have quite a few... but not the buckets that Mark has. Mine are more scattered... in different boxes etc. I also have a couple small reel to reels. On a separate cassette I put many of the ads I voiced (and some produced). Those from the early 80's are among my favorites.

I probably have an equal amount from AM & FM gigs. What's the ratio for you?? 8)

Thanks for all the responses...I assume that most people just KEEP them til they disintegrate?
I have to be a big girl and toss some...ugh!
