Old Cable TV Equipment

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this, but it SORT OF has to do with Classic TV. I recently found this news story from WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI who was being charged $4/month for a very old-fashioned slider cable box, which apparently, had not been used in over 11 years.
