old Chicago Newspaper radio log

I think WJJDs FM was first called WJJD-FM before WJEZ.
You're right most FMs were classical. The first station that I remember playing Top 40 on FM was WNWC in Arlington Heights & only at night. WBBM-FM began playing light rock in the late 60s as the "Young Sound".

More thought on "JJD-fm. They were seperately programmed country until "JEZ and the "easy country came along, right?

WNWC in Arlington Heights;

I believe it was the "Summer of '66. WNWC was top 40
They had a wierd schedule something like this;

6-9 dj 1
9-noon dj 2
noon-3 dj 1
3-6 dj 2

Well I do remember they had a night DJ named George Carl & then in 1967 he was replaced by Jon Terry. I have one of their surveys and it doesn't say anything about a daytime rock & roll schedule--just 7 to midnight.
