WDRC is supposed to be broadcasting from a new gas station on the Berlin Turnpike. In the ad it today's paper they used DRC-FM's old logo:

Old Logo from WDRCOBG.COM.

Their current logo is:

i've dealt with newspapers in the past. they always mess up. i guarantee they just went with whatever they had on file.

i'd also like to comment on drc's logo. its terrible.
i hope they didnt pay anyone to create it. if so, they got ripped off. i dont know how anybody at the station can look at their new logo and think "yes, this is good!" maybe its just me.. i dont work there, so i dont know what kind of image they're trying to portray, so i guess its not up to me to judge.

It looks like someone did it on Photoshop. I could create something similar identical in perhaps 2-3 minutes. If they were going for something cheap, they should've just used something simple instead of bubble letters and swirls, eh?

Please don't mention the Doolittle (!) Radio Company to me! Those people were in the Wal-Mart I work in on Sunday with a whole bunch of costumed carollers. Yes, that logo of theirs is second-rate. This station needs a format flip and quick!

Now I'm going to start trouble...

Suddenly I'm reminded of the speculation earlier this year about which station would be flipping to Jack and which one to Hurban... Seems they already kinda have the Jack thing going on, so what's next for Big D? one word...

Reggaeton!

(I can already imagine hearing Daddy Yankee - Gasolina)

Cool! I don't listen to them now. I certainally won't listen to them if that happens! It's why I don't listen to WZMX-FM or WPHH-FM on Sunday nights.

Seriously, just when did WDRC-FM first become an oldies station anyway? I can remember that station carrying "American Top 40" in the 1980s.

Re: Now I'm going to start trouble...

WDRC should have just turned to rock and roll classics, from the 50's to maybe even the mid 90's. I think that format would've rocked. Similar to Capital Gold in London UK.

I don't mind the station as it is, but I think they should play less R&B stuff. There are two other fulltime classic R&B stations available in Hartford. I think it was wrong to abandon the 50's and most of the 60's though.

Re: Now I'm going to start trouble...

I dont think they can do any worse then they're doing now by flipping to Reggaeton or even to a simulcast of WLAT AM 910.

Driving into CT one day, I tuned into 102.9 and almost drove off the road. Yikes. What were they thinking? Talking to non-radio folks in the New Britain/Plainville area, they pissed off with the change. But then again, you don't please everyone with a format change. Any other oldies stations in the Hartford area? There's a damn good one in the Berkshires of Massachusetts but they don't get into CT at all. If you like oldies and ski...next time you go sking up there, try 95.9 or 100.1 in the Berkshires for something called "Whoopee FM"....a Vox station. Oldies of all sorts.

Re: Now I'm going to start trouble...

If you have a decent radio you can pick up WATR 1320 out of Waterbury. They're a part time oldies station and drspite the fact most of their music is from the Jones Network, rather than loccal I think they're pretty good as does my mom, unlike my dad who doesn't think WDRC has changed and thinks AM radio is worthless. He hasn't liked AM in a long time. He used to let me put the hip-hop station on in the car, but all the time he's like - "Why you listening to AM?" From 1997 until 2001 Hip-Hop was on AM only in Hartford - JAMZ 910 and Blaze 990.

Can barely pick up 1320 in Hartford, almost not worth the effort. AM is fine for music.. WABC Saturday nights, AM 740 Toronto at night is a very easy catch here. Besides that, there's some doo-wap stuff on the college stations.

You ever try for WWKB (aka WKBW) 1520 in Buffalo? I figure if you're getting 740, you must be able to get KB Radio.

Yes not as clearly as AM740, but I get that regularly as well. Was listening to it last night actually.
