OLD FASHIONED TOWER LAMP FLASHERS

We're looking for an old-fashioned tower lamp flashing system. The mercury bulb, which is rocked back and forth by a smallgeared motor. We have an RF problem at our site, and would like to returnto the non-solid-state days, if anyone has such a unit.We have the housing to protect it from weather. Please respond to [email protected]

KFBX 970 in Fairbanks, Alaska just changed their tower beacon from an old-style red flasher to a new red LED system, and they may stll have the old unit. You can e-mail them from their web site: http://www.970kfbx.com/main.htmlI hope this will be helpful. -- Jason

We have a mechanical flasher that has extremely high inductance in the winding of the coil that runs it, and the contacts are huge, so it'll take quite the hit before Mr. lightning will tear them up. Oil the thing up occationally at the bearing if you can, set it with a lightbulb for 30 flashes per minute, and you're set for years of dependable service. You can even modify the cam a bit to keep the light burning 2/3 the time to mimmic the SSAC or Huey-Phillips system if you wish. We suffered though solid-state crap for years @ our 50k directional until we found these great units. We're using one on the tower though an austin ring and one inside our building to run the other less powerful towers that go through a seperate lighting choke from the sidelights. Our stuff has been running flawlessly for over 8 years. The phone number for the place we bought it at here in OKC is :405-672-1985.Hope this helps!
