O.K. do you want me to buy it? I wonder if it still works? I'm always careful of what I Leslie and I buy off ebay. That board was built not as a on air board, but to use in the production room. If he would come off of the $350 a little, I'd buy it and set it up at 1560 for you to play with. With only 4 "BIG" knobs, do you think Buntin could figure out which one was the mic pot (HA!!!)

Delta,

Oh, by the way, did you see the Behringer board that I gave Buntin? Nice sound to it and I have another one I use at home just like it. I think is lost on how to interface it with his laptop, which is easy.

WLBQ in Morgantown, KY has one of those Gates Producer boards in thier Prod. room, still used everyday. My cousin, Johnny Bailey, that owned 1400 WJZM in Clarksville back in 60's-80's had one of those boards as well in the production room.

350.00 for the board..20.00 for the 10 watter fm TX...one knob for mic, two for L & R TT..one left for a spotmaster..what else does a real jock need ?..wonder if theres a tower on ebay ?..."I'LL BE BAK"...

Be REAL CAREFUL broadcasting on FM without a license. There have been too may busted for broadcasting on the FM band without a license. It would be best to use the AM band from 1610 to 1700. On FM you will not be able to get outside your back yard without somebody trying to turn you in.

On AM, there is a transmittter that is sold that if you put up the antenna right, it can go for up to 3-5 miles daytime. Keith Hamilton of Hamiltom AM Tranmittters makes and sells these Part 15 transmitters, and they are FCC certified. The FCC is a bit more liberal on the AM band than they are on the FM band, thanks to corporate and the NAB.

Be REAL CAREFUL broadcasting on FM without a license. i think i was kidding..except the part about the wife holding the shower rod.. ::) although there WAS a tower on ebay..lol.. i have looked into the little am transmitter kit..wouldn't broadcast far..just enough power to make it to buntin's house around the corner..i can hear it now..all gene pitney all the time...

The Gates Producer is a real dog, always has been. Ever wonder why they named it "Producer"? There is no cue channel. But then I guess that's not as much of an issue these days.

The board was designed to be a small production board, for dubbing from disc or reel to cart, or for newsroom use. In the price list I have, dated march 1, 1971, it was 850 bucks. The Stereo Producer is 1450. By comparison, an Executive console listed for 5295.

We had a Gates Producer when I was in Woodruff, SC at WSJW in 1971. It was a real POS then and even more so now. And there are transistors that are more than obsolete now. They were expensive and hard to find in 1971!

after looking at that pic again..it looks very similar to the prod board at the old WFMG (104.5) i used back in 1970..i distinctly remember a bog console with those knobs..we had a 10 channel mono gates broadcast board at WHIN in those days..and i don't rmember it ever breaking down..i believe it was a tube model..very warm sounding compared to todays mixers..
