Old Jay Marvin Airchecks?

Hey, I need some help. If you know of anyone, or maybe you have some, old airchecks of myself and Grant Parke together the first time on WLS I need a copy of them. If you have any please drop me an e-mail at [email protected]

Thanks!

Jay Marvin
ex WLS now at AM760 Progressive Talk Denver, CO

Jay, I don't have any airchecks for you but I just wanted to say we miss you here in Chicago your the best come back to Chicago
people still luv you here your awesome. WLS made a big mistake letting you go.

Thanks for the kind words. There is nowhere for me to come back too. I will always remember how much fun it was on WLS working for Drew Hayes and then Mike Elder. After that it went down hill. I don't for the life of me see how having a station all right-wing or all left-wing is any fun. Not that there's anything wrong with either. There just seems to be no sense of humor, chance or gamble to what goes on. It's the same old same old every day. I think that's one thing you never got with Grant and myself. Thanks again!

Jay

Jay,

I did not get to hear much of you on WLS but I was an avid listener back in the day when you were on 970WFLA. You're right! When you have a healthy dose of the Left, Right and ??? it makes for a fun listening experience. Back then you couldn't get me to tune away, even under penalty of death. Nowadays it takes exactly that in order to make me listen to what 970 has become for more than five minutes.

Hi Steve! Mary and I are doing fine. Now going on 27 years together. Oh, wait. Liberals don't have any family values! Just kidding. And AM&FM you are so right. Talk radio is now something where you can hear the same old same old everyday. From both the left and the right. I go to tell you WCKG would have made it if they had gotten a good, local morning show. The rest of the station sounded pretty good. Garry really sounded good when I last heard him. Now Chicago is stuck with all this canned off the bird crap on WLS, and WGN is well WGN. Sad. Butmaybe if we all make enough noise about this things will change.

I've said it before and I will say it again...syndicated morning shows are the biggest scam in radio.

Jay? Best of luck in your search.

Kudos to Jay and a hearty hear-hear to everything above. Oh, for the good old days when it was more about being entertaining and compelling on the radio than how well you fit some brain-stem-in-a-suit's notion of what "TALK RADIO" is supposed to sound like...

HOLA
JAY HOW ABOUT BROADCASTING FROM CUBA.....I REMEMBER LISTENING TO YOU ON WLS 890 TALKING ABOUT HOW BONITA CUBA IS......SMOKING
MAYBE AFTER FIDEL KICKS EL BUCKET HAHAHA YOU ARE MISSED
YOU RUSH MANCOW HOWARD & ELIA FROM SPANISH BROKER RADIO INSPIRED ME TO GET INTO BROADCASTING SO GRACIAS I THINK ..... SMOKINGGGGGGGGGGGGG
CUIDATE
PS R U DOING THE SHOT GUN STILL?????

Thanks to all here for the kind comments. I still talk to my friends in Cuba via e-mail. So I'm sure I'm on the NSA list somewhere. It's time for democratic reform in that country. But it will have to come from them not us pushing on them. Anyway, thanks again for all the nice words. I'll always love Chicago, cheer for the Sox and look at my time at WLS under Drew Hayes and Mike Elder as the best time of my career. Those were once in a life time days (or nights) that will never happen again. I had a couple of chances to go to WCKG and never took them. But look what happened to them in the end. Garry was one of the best people I ever worked with in radio. Talented and honest to a fault. I hope good things happen for him in the future.

hey jay! no airchecks here... but as your former "minister of Corn Dogs," i wanted to say that i nearly wrecked my car about two years ago when you filled in for springer on AA. i now live in cincy, and when i heard you on the air i stopped paying attention to the road :) i am one conservative-libertarian that always enjoyed a good spar with you, and have always enjoyed your unique approach. all the best to you!
