Old KSIQ Storefront, Brawley

Google Earth has a 2009 image of the Valley location= 120 South Plaza, Brawley, CA . Use 'Street view' for a full frontal.

Anyone know where the new 1300 KROP studios are located ? I remember visiting that station in 1968 and they were at the tower site. A visit in 1978 found them in the town square facility pictured. Saw it for the last time in the late 1990's with the FM added.

The KROP website says it's still at 120 S.Plaza...
I remember the old KROP self supporting tower at the west end of town. At about the same location
you could start smelling the feedlots as you went east.

Back in the late 60's & early 70's, I used to make trips to the Imperial Valley. You brought back alot of memories describing the old studios and towers of by gone radio stations from the Imperial Valley area. I remember stopping in at KAMP / 1430 AM many times talking to then D.J. "T-Tom Turner". I would ask for old radio surveys. I remember the feed lots in the heat of the summertime... P-U!!! And, I too visited KROP / 1300 and KXO / 1230.

Ron, a friend who was in El Centro in the '60's, relates how some merchants in the area feared the impact of the 'new' I-8 which
would bypass local roads and businesses. In an effort to maximize visitors, local business owners had an informal agreement
with the 3 AM stations. Any weather report would 'cap' the temperature at 115 degrees , max....
Ron escaped the I.V. at the age of 18, via the U.S. Navy.
