OLD LANG SYNE

A few weeks late on this one but still worth asking.
I had a disscussion with Chris Dipaola a couple of weeks ago about Dan Fogalburgs "OLD LANG SYNE">
( Pardon the spelling, I had a few while typing this)

He had me adding Christmas music to his station and of the songs was Dan Fogalburgs "OLD LANG SYNE". He brought up a good piont.

How did this song that has been out for Lord only knows how long all of a sudden become a Christmas song? Mostly with all Christmas formats but still.
Did one station add it and everyone followed or what?
It was never ment to be a Christmas song.I think.
Thoughts....

Do you think that the song was released in December 1980, 8 months before the album, or the first two lines are..

Met my old lover in the grocery store,
The snow was falling Christmas Eve.

has anything to do with it?

Hi Geoff,

I hear you on Pro alot.I thought of that but the song was never a Christmas song until a few years ago when the stations started playing the 6 months of Christmas until Christmas music.

As for bumping into an ex girlfriend at the local Stop and Shop.Nothing special about that.I'm sure a few guys on here can say they bumped into an ex somewhere unexpectedly. That could be a bad thing.Unless you really are going to the liquer store. Then it would be a good thing. ;D

There are other songs that get played only at Christmas that are more winter songs than anything else like Sleigh Ride,Let It Snow,Marshmallow World,Baby It's Cold Outside and probably a few others that have nothing to do with the holidays.
