Old Phone/Marti Type Gear For STL/TSL Found At KSKO (Video!)

I thought y'all would like to see this. It was found in a back storage room at KSKO yesterday, so I shot a video of it and asked The Broadcasting Club facebook group members what this was as I had no idea... and I got two great answers.

Neal Newman said this is This is an early Carlson extended range long haul TDM phone solution.
Matt Boughton said "RPU or four wire STL/TSL for telemetry"

Both answers make sense, we still have the old KSKO 870 Transmitter to studio telemetry link yagi on our tower at the studio, as the AM tower was 3 miles outside of town.

Being that it ran in the 450-455Mhz part of the band and is bi-directional. I would vote for a remote control link to and from the transmitter. I could see a phone solution being purposed into a 4 wire circuit to carry the data for a remote control.

The TSL telemetry yagi, and the STL dish on the tower at our studio… havent been used in 8 years.

The white thing is a webcam from borealis broadband in anchorage

Building remnants are an old building, not in our property, being taken apart.

The turnstile at the top is our Scala FMO, 180 Watts TPO, 90 watts ERP
