DJ McKay was Bill Stairs. Jeff Prescott (using the name Jeff Preston) worked there as did Gary Allyn, Neil Ross, Lenny Mitchell, Jerry Clifton, KO Bayley, Charlie Ryder, Gene Knight and Tom Straw.

My Mom always kept telling me of how those call letters were re-used for 100.7 up here in Seattle.

They were located in College Grove Shopping Center... went there a few times to pick up free albums I had won.

The original KSEA (1971) was automated from a dumpy little building in Hillcrest on 4th Avenue. Jerry Clifton had come in from KAFY/Bakersfield and he & Gene Knight split the day with generic voicetracks. There was someone on duty 24/7 to keep an eye on the automation and change the tapes every 4 hours or so. The guy who babysat overnight used to bring a sleeping bag with him and crash all night. He had an alarm clock wake him up every 4 hours...

There was nothing in the small office but the automation system in the main larger room, and a small production room (and a few tiny additional offices). Everything else was over in College Grove at KSON-AM.

It finally went to live shifts in 1972

Lenny Mitchell! I miss him a lot. Haven't heard him on air since he pulled weekend shifts for KUPR in the late 90s.

How about some other Voices that were heard on KSEA? Robert John.."Little" Gary Kelley..Brian White..Ron Shaw..
& Chuck Geiger... KSEA- Broadcasting from "The tallest self-supporting broadcast tower in So. Cal." Even so,
the signal was spotty even on Clairmont Blvd.- But came in strong east of Victorville!
Also did remotes from a Kiosk at Belmont Park...
