Old Radios come alive

I had a mental picture of of my old radios coming alive.....

It would great if old radios could say, "Oy, such a pain I got in the big electrolytic, and my 12SQ7 is getting gassy."

Wow it's been a long time since I've seen a 12SQ7! Your post brought back memories of my misspent youth and made me smile. ;D

If you're hearing your radio say that, you have a problem with smoking pot(entiometer). ;D

And all the 60/40 lead that I've inhaled for 35 years of radio/kit building I'm sure has not been a good thing for me, but that equipment is still in one piece and works, unlike the lead-free solder now that fails after 2 years of use in an electrical device that generates any sort of heat.

And now back to our sponsor...

I still haven't installed the Roady XT in my newer car. Not a lot of mounting options.

I started soldering at a young age and when I ran out of solder that came with the Weller Gun Dad bought me he bought some solder. Neither of us knew it was the wrong kind it spit all over the place, it was acid core solder! Where do they use that stuff anyway plumbing? It's nasty!

Will we be able to get OTR, Luna, Special-X, World Zone, NGOMA, U-Pop, Music Lab, Fine tuning, and Vox! on these old receivers ???

It is excellent for tacking together pieces of galvanized sheet metal when making enclosures for radio projects.
Just make sure clean up all joints later.
The strong acid flux is for cleaning and etching such surfaces.
Any electrical connection that would need so much action is too dirty or tarnished and should be cleaned first
so rosin core will work, the rosin being more for "flow-ability" than cleaning.

Found a good place to mount the radio in the Camry and I'm a subscriber again! Listening to Siriusly Sinatra channel 71 as I write this (using the Belkin boom box) but I have been listening to all the others too. It's good to have it back, I was driving around listening to Watercolors today, it was great.

My RoadyXT is still working, long after other RoadyXT have bitten the dust. Hope this one lasts awhile.
