aside from the standard Whispers,Slave, Bar-Kays, Funkedelic, Rick James and Cameo, etc. where do I go from there, am I close?? with some of the Following:

New Birth-Wildflower
Bobby Womack - Harry Hippie
Millie Jackson- If loving you is Wrong
Commodores - Night Shift
Incredibles -Heart and soul

Artists like Margie Joseph, Denise LaSalle, and some blue-eyed soul like Hall and Oats, Boz Skaggs, and Simply Red
a light smattering of Blues..Like Little Johnny taylor , Albert king, ZZ Hill ....etc

Is Marvin Sease-Candy Licker too risque.

Which Old School station can I listen for ideas not to steal their music , I already have 2,000 cuts in the can, i just need to see If I'm On the right track.

I personally like the NEW Urban AC direction Radio One is going with their stations. R&B with some hip-hop from the 80s and 90s and current R&B. Way too many Urban AC stations focus only on Classic Soul.

Shawty is right on point. I believe I am now the target audience for urban ac, but I grew up on Run DMC. Not New Birth.

I appreciate both your inputs...My title is an Old School 1965-1985 programming.....know very little of Urban A/C, and Is not what I am programming.... "Shake You Down" - Gregory Abbot (1985) is an example of my chronological stop point, maybe Classic Soul 1965-1985 is a better title for my post, appreciate the input. The problem is that modern format classifications are trying to distance themselves from the dreaded word Oldies. There are so many classifications with A/C attached that I can't tell , tell where what fits.. Modern A/C , Hot A/C, Urban A/C, Rythmic A/C, A/C.
Attaching A/C to any format allows te PD's to program some Oldies with the new stuff...There's that dreaded word again, Oldies.
