Old Time Radio Shows

I am looking to obtain copies of the old-time radio shows that aired over WPXN and WSAY radio in Rochester, NY in 1979-81. Can anyone help? Thanks

What were some of the shows broadcast on these stations? Most OTR shows have fallen into public domain these days, and there are many websites where you can download hundreds, or even thousands, of free programs. I use these websites as the basis for my old time radio show< Upstate Radio Theatre.

Here are some links that may steer you in the right direction.

http://www.zootradio.com

http://www.otr.net

http://www.radiolovers.com

http://www.mysteryshows.com (paid membership required to access the full library)

www.archive.org (this is the Internet Archive. From the main page, just type in a search for a specific OTR show, such as Gunsmoke, or Jack Benny. Or, you can just search under Old Time Radio, and you'll get several pages of results).

I hope this helps.

I wonder if there are tapes, or discs, of the really old time shows that actually originated from Western NY back in the day. WHAM had one called "Tales of the NY State Police" that fed to a number of NBC stations across the state from the then-new Humboldt Street studios back in the 1940s. A very young Irv Weinstein had recurrent roles on that and other shows right after he graduated from Monroe High School in Rochester back around 1948, a full decade before he arrived at WKBW radio and TV to become the face and voice of news in Buffalo for a generation.

One of the best old time radio buffs is Ken Meyer in Boston. Not sure how to reach him anymore but I think Fybush knows how to get to him
