Old WX Reports On WBZ.

I believe there was a similar post/topic on this somewhere, but couldn't find it...

For the SECOND time in the past hour, I have heard YESTERDAY'S weather report played on the WBZ morning news.

Now, today is Friday, Feb. 5th... Elliot Abrams starts out by giving "today's" forecast, then tonight, then "tomorrow", and then SATURDAY. (And I'm sure this is an old one because I heard the exact same file play yesterday!)

I can see this slipping through the cracks once, but TWICE??? On a station like WBZ? Isn't anyone over there paying attention? ::)

Perhaps you're thinking of WWZN airing a two-week-old CNN newsbreak?

Perhaps...

By the way, I just heard it yet AGAIN. Played at 7:20 am... Incredible.

I worked at WEEI back in the day when they were news. It was my responsibility to make sure that WX reports, Charles Osgood etc. were all new and timely. If it was an old or outdated report, there was heck to pay.

Now its all PC based instead of a person recording a cart and loading into a machine. While the tech is cool, doing away with capable bodies is not.

Isn't the most likely cause of day-old Wx the assignment of the wrong name to the file when it was saved? Or is the copy of the file on the local hard drive automatically given the filename that was assigned by whomever created the file in the first place--before it was downloaded? If the latter, the problem would be human error--but not at WBZ. The error would have been committed at AccuWeather.

1090 is where you want to be for WX reports. unfortunately some WILD local seems to have temporarily wiped out WBAL. im sure itll be gone near sunset
