Older Scott SS-32 help?

Before I spend hundreds per hour for support, does anyone know how to grab the "what is playing now" information from an older SS-32? The software version is from 2004 (40324). Can it be broadcast across the IP network or does it have to come out of a serial connection. Thanks

Have you tried the DSM32 module? I have used it on the newer versions of SS32 to grab the NOW PLAYING data and push it to the RDS box and the streaming computer. It works very well, but I have never tried it on the older versions of SS32. You can contact Wide Orbit and they have an FTP server to download it from. They can help you set it up right. But, if you are determined to do it for cheap, I can email you the program and you can try it.

Thanks,

Several people have sent some plug-ins and scripts to try, I think your module is in one of them.

Were you able to get this going with the scripts/etc ? I'm in the same boat you were in last year and am looking for some direction from someone who has already been there.

The only reliable way I have found is to use a serial port of the SS32. The DSM module and IP stuff was intermittent at best. You had to constantly reboot. We updated to new computers and the latest software before Wide Orbit bought out DMarc. I stuck with the serial port because it is simple and just works. SS32 is usually set up for the switcher on Com 1, so set Com 2 for what’ playing now. I have a RS-232 splitter, one going to the streaming server, and the other to the RDS unit. The streaming company provides a script program on the server to eliminate the info they do not want. The Inovonics RDS also can be set to just grab the title and artist. I have done this at three stations that use SS32's. No problems have been reported since changing to the serial ports.
