Oldest TV Broadcast You Found At A Thrift Store

I recently found an NBC broadcast of "The Karate Kid: Part II" from 1988 at a local thrift store.

When I checked the tape, I was surprised to find that the movie had the original commercials in it including an Oldsmobile commercial with Frankie Avalon, Jr. and his father. When I have time, I will upload the video onto Youtube.

Also, the tape also includes almost an entire WBIR-TV 10 Knoxville newscast from 1988 with the original commercials. It sounded like someone who recorded the movie decided to keep the recording going through the middle of a sportscast.

This is currently the oldest tape I have in my collection.

Oh yes and I found the final episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" from 1994 with those original commercials in them at the same thrift store I found the movie in.

Which brings me to the question: Has anyone found any old TV broadcasts with original commercials from the 1970s and 1980s at a local thrift store?

About 20 some odd years ago I picked up a VHS tape of the old Howdy Doody Show. Although Howdy came on introducing the episode in compatible color (a reference to the RCA(NBC's founder) system after the failure of the CBS system) the whole episode was in black and white since it was dubbed onto a filmed kinescope. Still, it was fun to watch. Concord Video released the VHS tape in addition to instructional videos geared to pre-schoolers.

what is your youtube name? I might subscribe to your channel and BTW, my mother always loved to go to thrift stores and everything and I didn't like them because I thought they were boring but as I got older I gained more respect for thrift stores!

The first 6 episodes of Superman, starring George Reeves, which were made in 1951. Lois Lane was played by Phyllis Coates that season.
