Oldies 101.9 is up and this board sure is quiet!

;) The latest trend, published at this very site, has Oldies up to 4.2 share 12+. Now, I don't even want to get into a nitpicking argument that 12+ doesn't matter, blah, blah, blah. Nor do I want to hear the 30 days trends are unweighted, blah, blah, blah.
Fact of the matter is, the 4.2 is up substantially from the 12+ numbers a year ago, which means the specific demos are up too. What's amusing to me is that NO ONE is pounding on this operation now on this board - where are all the critics?
Looks like this station is actually taking share from B105 [ less than a 4 share in this trend for the first time in years] - who would've thunk? I'm not sure very many who participate at this site will do this, so I will - congrats to those on Knue Road for plugging along. Looks like all your efforts [regardless of the owner's philosophies] are making some impact.

I was thinking roughly the same thing...every time that Oldies is written off as being too, well "old", someone comes along & proves "them" wrong. Indy's historically been a 5+ share Oldies market when a full power signal has carried the torch. WKLR & WGLD topped a 5, 95.9's good effort hit a 2 with a very challenged signal. WKLU's signal is much better than 95.9's, but still shy of 93.1 & 104.5. They deserve props for the 4.2 share. Good job folks!

When did oldies air on 93.1? Was that one of the format stops between the revival of WNAP and Radio Now? Or did you mean 93.9?

WKLR came on in the late 80's (87-88?) and lasted until WNAP returned in 1994 or so. A LOT of people scratched their heads when they blew up a 5-6 share cash cow.

So the embargo is lifted and we have trends again? BFD. You can't sell off them.

Ah, here we go; the first malcontent to man up with something negative to say about KLU. You're partially right - you can't negotiate media buys off of trends with agency buyers. However, you can SELL them if you're a good sales staff; if you're calling on decision makers and direct business you can use the information to educate advertisers on the direction the station is taking product wise, and the growth curve that the trends are documenting based on the product changes.

So, no one else out there wanting to dog the station? Predictable. ;)

And similarly WTUX had okay numbers (better than say the track has now).

Look at WIBC 1070. The Bear. WISG. Love 98. Some numbers but not enough sales.

And look at WTLC WHHH WNOU. Numbers never ever were the whole answer. You had to find someone who liked the demos and the clients who listened. That's why about half the numbers for these stations are irrelevant, in the eyes of ad agencies. Always having to break out the percentage of the audience the ad agencies bought was the key.

Couldn't help but laugh out loud when I saw Mouseman's posts.

What's predictable is that the staff is giddy after scoring a 4.2 - wow - you're bigtime now. Gimme a break. Quinn's KLU was up into the high 3's with a non-existent budget and a shotgun approach to the format (which many liked of course - not dogging it), but Oasis has pumped MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars into that frequency and you're bragging about a 4.2?

Maybe with huge bragging numbers like that, the Mayberry Cafe will give you another shot.

Enjoy it while you can - the broker is already calling around town trying to find a buyer - that format and staff has limited days.

No kudos for a trend. You've got to do better than that to get any respect from anyone other than the board ops.

Sorry - keep trying.

It's no fun now that Russ and Clark aren't defending WKLU's honor. Their thin skin was half the fun. The station sounds OK. Gold and KLR asounded better...and had better numbers and revenue than KLU.

You said it....once you got Clark or Russ with their panties in a bunch....it just turned into unadulterated fun. Pile On!

Don't be fooled. They're still here - just not using their original screen names. Who do you think are the ones constantly blowing the klu horn on here?

Oh I'm having a blast! I've been very entertained by this thread.

I have it on good work that Oasis has sold WKLU, building and all, to a religious broadcaster. With our main targets now gone what will we all do w/the extra time?
Back to selling the fireworks show huh John?

Reverend Russ?

The big loser here - Brownsburg.

The town HAD a local radio station. Then an out-of-towner comes in, moves it to Indy, then can't make a go of it and bails out before he loses everything, selling to a religious organization ...

There should be a law against this.
