Oldies 101.9 is up and this board sure is quiet!

Heck Maybe Frenchman might get his wish to get a Love 98 like station or even a 93.9 the song like station.

Very unlikely that the buyer will have anything to do with traditional advertising sales - and it's not a non-com. The price Oasis was asking was too high for anyone with any common sense to pay, and too much to be able to recoup with a music format.

The ONLY way for this frequency to pay back the cost is with paid religious programming. An FM version of the old WXLW perhaps?

What religion will they serve?

The one that claims to believe in love and forgiveness but hates everyone who doesn't agree with them exactly on every doctrinal point.

Oh wait, that's ALL of them.

Moody has been selling stations but Lesea has been looking. Pulse FM Indianapolis? Wilkins has been looking too but don't see him spending 10 million.

I was hoping for some more religion when I next travel to Indianapolis.

(Might be time to put Warm 93.9 on presets)

This was a fire sale. The losses over the past two years have been incredible over there (that great management and music tests). It was being offered for less than 5 million - likely accepted less than that.

It's a buyer's market - Without question he received less than he originally paid.

All I have to say is don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out of town.

Christian Broadcasters, "great fund-raisers", syndicating an east coast morning show out of that bldg. Now doubt Oasis took a huge "haircut".
"Know how to make 5 million in the radio business? - start w/10"

This must be a faulse rumor. WKLU has a 4 in ratings. It is playing oldies. A great format!
I don't believe Russ is selling out now. He does not need money. Where's the proof. This story has
been posted many times over the years.

i hope it is true but, this is probably "Wishful Thinking" on everybody's part, i don't see any proof of it written anywhere else but from Radioho. he MAY be the ULTIMATE AUTHORITY, i don't know.... ;)

This was put out there by radiobrat - not the 'ho.

While the 'ho has no inside on whether a deal has gone through, KLU's broker has been contacting everyone in the biz with a ridiculous selling price. Too high to actually do anything with, but again, for a religious organization, money is typically not as big of a concern - so it makes sense that's who would put up the cash.

He's definitely desperate and losing cash daily. Doesn't matter how much you can afford to lose, when you've done everything you know how to do (in this case not much) and you barely crack a 4 in trends, after several years, there comes a time when you have to cut your loses and run.

RUN RUSS RUN!

ya know, i'm sure ANYONE would sell for the right price at any time, and i'm also sure every owner or group has talked to a broker to get out of this economic mess, but WHO would be buying now? so, i wouldn't get excited over these rumors. Russ is a small owner, his debt NOTHING like a Cumulus or CC, the first to sell would be the big boys, IF they could and they're not.

Yeah, I wouldn't get all caught up in the sales talk. Especially where LeSEA is involved. They are cutting staff, and cutting wages across the board in all departments company wide. Radio and TV.

While I cannot confirm this rumor, I can share that I heard it again, this time from the principle at a small ad agency in town. He's heard that it is K-Love, though it would not mean the end of 90.5FM, since that signal covers ground to the west of the state better that 101.9 cannot get to [Terre Haute, and ponits in between there and here]. :-*

To find the answer to all of this, wouldn't it be as simple as going to the FCC website? Or is that only if it's already a done deal? No way the WKLU owner is going to get 10 mil for a stand-alone station.

Well if it's true, then someone might want to let their Program Director know. He has job postings up on All Access and the Indiana Broadcasters Association website for a Full-Time Air Talent, and in the ad he mentions that they are an "Oldies" format.

Yeah Programming and Sales are usually the last people to find out about sales and Format Changes if the Format call comes from the corpate office

i don't know WHAT "Job Opening" they could have, it looks like they're fully staffed to me. by the way, i hope you are all having fun starting "Rumors". nobody has an ounce of proof, your tongues are wagging hoping for, i don't know what, so i wonder where you will be and what you will say WHEN you are WRONG. it looks to me like THIS station should be applauded for HAVING a "Live 24/7" operation in an era of "Voice Tracking", cutbacks and syndication(which you all seem to hate-i do to). if they are adding someone else, Hell! GREAT!
