Oldies 102.3/106.9

How do these two oldies stations in the Fayetteville area sound? Do they sound anything similar to WFLB? I've been looking at their website and it looks pretty good.

What ever happened to WFVL moving closer to Fayetteville? Did that fall through?

106.9 and 102.3 sound fairly decent. Chris Roth, the PD, is a friend of mine and we talked at length some tiime ago. They are phasing out the 102.3 in their liners and jingles, which leads me to believe that they will spin the format wheel on it before long. Chris told me "either Mexican or Classic Country." Of course, that's not set in stone, but if it became Classic Country, I told him I would love to come to Fayette-nam and program it. I work at 100.9 The Cross (Southern Gospel) and I love it here, but Classic Country is my favorite format. But, back to the matter at hand, both frequencies sound pretty good and they have a great music mix, in my humble opinion.

In the matter of WFVL, the station is licensed to Southern Pines, but the studios are with the rest of the Cumulus properties on Drayton Road in Fayetteville.

I don't remember enough about WFLB to be specific, but on the way home from Myrtle Beach, when the interference on WEZV was just too much, this sounded pretty good for a while. I think I must have switched when they played something loud. Eventually I heard WIOZ. I wish that could be on 102.5 and 102.3.

On a related note, Star 102.5 sure is loud. CREED? Soft rock?

According to RADIO-LOCATOR, WFVL had a CP to move closer to Fayetteville, which would put both Fayetteville and Lumberton in the main contour of the coverage map; see below:

Looks like the CP has expired; does anyone know? If they were indeed moving, that would explain dropping the 102.3 simulcast, since it's only use is to cover Lumberton. Those signal issues would be resolved if 106.9 upgraded.
